Bill, it looks like Washington has some extra hoops for you to jump in.  I guess that I should have stated that federal law doesn't require a background check for carry permit holders.  Bottom line, it depends on where you live.
In New Hampshire, because we are a 'shall issue' state, we still have to do the NICS check. Usually takes 20 minutes.
I had the right to remain silent...

but not the ability.

New member here. :)  Bought a C-100 from Academy in Sugar Land on 12/6 (not my first handgun ;)). I posted some pics on TaurusArmed.net, and will repost them here if anybody's interested. I've only put 100 rounds through the C-100, but I  really like it so far. They're still $299.99.

Welcome to the forum. Sugar Land, Texas? I'm in Tyler (East Texas).  8)

Does anyone know for sure if the frame is a steel alloy or aluminum? I think the website says steel alloy, but I've read it both ways.

I held a C-100 at Academy when they first came out. They're very light. 1.95 lbs according to their website. Definitely an aluminum alloy like the CZ P-01.

Does anyone know where I could find a guide for doing a trigger job for the c-100?

Follow the directions for a CZ-75, the C-100 is a very close copy (not exact).
I lightened the main spring (CZ part) and installed an 85 combat trigger. No other mods needed.

In New Hampshire, because we are a 'shall issue' state, we still have to do the NICS check. Usually takes 20 minutes.
Georgia's a shall issue state and carry permit holders don't have to go through the NICS check, so that's not it.  I do remember that there was a short period of time where Georgia carry permit holders had to go through the NICS, but the state fixed whatever the issue was and it went back to not having to go through the NICS.

On this FBI web page an asterisk "denotes states that have an ATF-qualified alternate permit ."  It isn't whether your state is shall-issue, but whether the Fibbies approve your state's licensing procedures that allows CHL holders to bypass NICS. Georgia and Texas both have asterisks.

Before I got my CHL, NICS routinely put me on hold, allegedly because I have a common name, even when I gave my Social Security Number. Of course, I have no idea how many illegal aliens might be sharing my SSN.   ::)

Wow! Before you've even seen it? Well, as chimera8 said, you should be able to the instructions for the CZ-75, and wing it where your pistol differs from a CZ. AGI has a video armorer's course on the CZ-75, and there's stuff all over YouTube. There's even a guy who suggests a simple way to avoid having your springs and plungers fly off into space.

Sounds good. As long as I can get it same day I'll be a happy camper. I should be able to pick it up tomorrow, so I'll edit my first post for first impressions when I get it.  ;D

I also wanted to comment with my experience with using Cabela's as an FFL. I'm not sure whether or not I should edit the original post with this anecdote as it is not directly related to my experiences with the firearm. Mods, if this post would be better suited as an edit to my original post feel free to let me know.

So, I used Cabela's as my FFL after being told by the employees that it was a $25 transfer. Originally I was going to have a friend of mine do the transfer, but I couldn't contact him, so I used Cabela's. Unfortunately, when I finally got the paperwork done they charged me $50 for the transfer and about $30 for sales tax (I live in Washington state). It took about 3 hours to finish the background check and paperwork because they were so busy. The customer service people were friendly and professional and I gave them the benefit of the doubt because I've worked in retail and understand how frustrating and stressful it can be. However, due to the insane transfer price, I definitely will not be using them for FFL transfers in the future.

That's bogus that they charged you sales tax - you didn't buy the gun from them. Even if you bought it from an instate dealer and had it shipped in, you would pay the dealer you bought it from the sales tax, not the transferring FFL.

I'd call a manager and get that refunded, or rat them out to the state Dept. of Revenue as making fraudulent sales tax charges.

When I order firearms online and transfer them through my LGS they only charge me a flat $30 fee. Cash preferred.  8)

Some local areas have laws which require an FFL doing a transfer to collect sales tax on transfers.  I seem to remember Washington state was one of them, but that's really pushing my memory.
