I'll have to check when I get home. I bought mine online on December 20th and just received it last wednesday (layaway). I'm pretty sure the test fire in the documentation said October 2012. I'll czeck.

Here's a copy from the P01/PCR Armorers manual......

OK, this is getting weird. The picture of the Gen 1 spring ace73 shows in his post is the same one the CZ website is selling as the "new style spring". Take a look at the link below:

http://shop.cz-usa.com/P-0420143070/Slide-Stop-Spring-758597-New-Style.aspx

Maybe the Armorer's manual has them reversed?

I think the aforementioned  armorer's manual precedes 2012 models by many years.
I also think the letter in the serial number differentiates generations on these pistols.  Hillguy is yours a "b"?

Yep, my SN begins with a "B".
So why does the CZ website refer to the Gen 1 as the "new spring" when, if as you say, the picture is several years old?

the site also doesn't breakdown when the spring changed.

There are actually three styles slide stop springs. Two are retained by a pin in the frame and the third that uses a hole in the frame.

Thanks noorked and Stuart....your last two post answer my original question about my P-01 not having the NATO number. I do NOT have the "new" style spring as discussed above. My frame does NOT have a hole in it, so it uses the "older" style as explained on CZ's own website:

CZ 75 Slide Stop / Release Spring

Newer Style L Shape

The new style Slide Stop Spring come in two different style, one with a bends in the longer straight leg and one without the bend. We have found that the one in the picture, I.E. Completely straight leg work CZ that have the Hole in the frame.

If there is NO HOLE in the frame you definitely need the older R Shaped Spring.

Since mine doesn't have the hole, clearly shown in the pictures, it must have the older style spring as CZ explains above.

So, even though CZ explained the absence of the NATO number by saying a new style spring precluded them from using it, it's got to be a case of an overrun or something, which is fine. It would have been much easier and straightforward for CZ to have acknowledged that in the first place.

BTW, I see that CZ says the new style spring comes in two flavors - bent and straight and mine must be bent (no hole in frame) - but their own explanation refers to it as the older R Shaped Spring.

In any case, mine was made in 8/12 with no NSN on it, and they are now coming in with the NSN, new style spring or not. I wonder if the ones made recently have the hole in the frame. According to CZ they should. And guess what - they're still NATO certified!

Love my P-01. CZ's explanation....not so much.

The date on my gun is October 2012. Guess I missed that batch of non-NSN P01s.

Still enjoy popping in here.. Note - I am not sure that CZ has been putting NSN's on all. If they are destined for a non- NATO country, they may not use it.
I guess - who does not enjoy a CZ75-P01 and who thinks a number makes it a lesser gun? Understand the number thing..

OK folks... I contacted the good folks CZ-USA when thus stared on behalf of a concerned person I respect. They were as much in the dark about what happened (they do not run the factory) and just got a response. I have permission to paste it here as they are aware of concerned people.
Start.................

Just got word this morning from the factory, we were correct in our understanding that a new NSN needed to be filed for. We ended up going up the chain of command in the pistol portion of the factory, here it is in his words:

We are requesting for  a new NSN number for pistols with new slide stop spring. So there will be no problem in the future.

The ?problem? referenced was that customers were getting P-01s without an NSN. Feel free to spread this to the forums if you want.

End.........

So it looks like this Generation may just need a new NSN. To those who thing the un-numbered ones are going to be a rare variant, no clue.

In the interim, P ZERO 1's with no NSN are being grabbed up on Gunbroker for $700....

Yippie Ki-yay!
