CMR-AK762 scope on the 527
« on: January 27, 2013, 09:59:10 PM »
Has anyone tried this scope yet?

I just got my 527 and am deciding what kind of optic to use; fixed power, adjustable, red dot, but having used BDC optics in the service this new scope seems like a no brainier for the 7.62x39 (I'm also considering an ACOG). Would love to know if anyone has had any luck with this thing.

Primary Arms is also set to release a scope with a 7.62 BDC any day now, the 5.56 version has good reviews so far.

Interesting scope.  Not sure if I have enough education to use it or not.........

Where is it made?

So is that scope set up for the 7.62x39? or nato? That does sound interesting but ive never used BDC optics as generally just use red dots or low mag scopes.

If I could get my BDC scope license  ;D and get my head around all the marks and lines I would love to give one a go! Im a bit on the basic side when it comes to optics. Opens or dots are easy lol.

If you do get it please review it as I would be keen to learn more.

Cheers.

It is made in China but is done so with collaboration between US, Russian, and Chinese engineers, and Leatherwood has been around for decades. I've never used anything from them but forum reviews are always pretty good, and the 5.56 version of the CMR has been out for a while with very good reviews, typically "inexpensive but not cheap".

The CMR-AK762 was designed specifically for 7.62x39 122gr and not 'our' 7.62

BDC are pretty easy to use actually, in this case the ranging scale on the right is for average male height/shoulder width, pick the one that fits and you have your range. It's 1.75m x 50cm so you can extrapolate for deer, coyotes, paper targets, etc, in case your not fighting zombies  ;) Once you know your range just pick the distance on the scale and you should be spot on. Ranging scales and BDC seem pretty complicated at first but once you learn know to use it they are ultra simple and very fast. This scope is also set up to use as an illuminated 1x red dot so you can always revert back to the basics.

I would ideally like to use a TA33-13 which is the 3x ACOG with the 7.62x39 BDC but I'm trying to figure out a way to mount it without having to get on a step ladder to use use it.
