Fun Gun reviews Presents: "CZ 75 Full Size and Compact 9mm Pistol Comparison". The CZ 75 B is one of the most used sidearms in the world and most copied pistol designs only second to the 1911. We are comparing the Full size B model to the PCR Compact pistol.

I love Sootch.  He's 1 of only about 3 guys that I watch all their videos, regardless of subject matter.

so he carries the B cocked and locked, because he cannot figure out how to decock?

The firearm youtube expert bar seems to be very low.

I watched the video. I didn't hear sootch00 say anything about not knowing how to decock a pistol. I did see him show a simple demonstration of how the decocker works on the PCR versus the manual safety on the 75 B.

Having chosen to go with the decocker option, and liking it from a safety standpoint, how much effort is required to disengage the safety on the Compact or a 1911 which is "cocked and locked."?

I would love to have a Compact.  But not in Canada, eh.  It's a whopping 0.2 inches too short to be legal.  I wonder if I could have a barrel out of a full size 75 modified to 4 inches for it.
It's all about the hat.  If you don't wear a hat, then it's all about the colour of the gun.

I carry all of my steel-framed compact CZs cocked & locked, and their safeties have never inadvertently disengaged.  It's possible, I suppose, but if it did happen the firing pin block on the 75 C is still engaged, and the rebounding hammer safety on the 82 and 83s precludes any ND.

On a 1911 the grip safety remains engaged should the safety lock be inadvertently disengaged.  The Army's manual from 1914, however, does recommend rotating the grip outward while drawing from the holster while carrying cocked & locked so as to prevent inadvertent disengagement.

I don't see why you couldn't.  CZ recently made a batch of P-07s with longer barrels, perhaps for Canadian consumption?

As I recall, he merely said one could carry the 75 B cocked & locked (like the Kouck? brothers intended).

My beef with the vid was that the guy didn't demonstrate decocking with the safety model, so that one can carry it as designed.

That's because you don't normally decock with the manual safety model. If you want to decock, get the decocker version. Otherwise, get the manual safety version and carry it cocked and locked.

You really believe that? That comblock troops carried the 75, then the 75B, cocked and locked on duty? Then why give it DA function, since it messes up the trigger?

The 1911 BS is deep here.

Did he really say that?  Where did you get that quote?  That's hilarious.

You wanna know what I believe? I believe if you can't figure out how to manually decock a handgun with a manual safety without resorting to watching a how-to video you are too stupid to own, much less operate, a handgun safely.

Newbies.  ::)

BTW - I don't own a 1911, thank you. But I do carry my manual safety CZ's cocked and locked. And I prefer decockers over manual safeties anyway.
