My new 712 Target
« on: February 03, 2013, 04:16:04 PM »
Hello All

Just wanted to post about my new 712 Target. So far its been great. I have only shot around 100 rds due to the weather but i have had no ftf or fte at the trap range. i have used the following ammo: Winchester super target, Winchester AA and Baschieri & Pellagri competion one. All functioned perfectly. Fit and finish seem good. It shot well for me with two 21/25s back to back on my second time shooting trap since I was a teen. I will post more as soon as I shoot more. My goal is to get better and defeat the thousands of dollar shotguns with my $600.00 gun.

Update:

I went back to the trap range and went through 8 boxes of win super target, AA, and B+P with no pro lems. I also removed the plug and loaded 5 rds in the gun for each station (informal session) and it cycled perfectly. That's about 300 rds so far. I am happy with the performance . I shot a 20/25 two 21/25 and a 22/25.

Keep practicing...I'm one of those annoying guys with the expensive trap guns.  My average is about 96%. ;D

I use my CZ 712 for pheasant hunting.

Trap?  Almost 100% O/U, single or unsingle.  You see some semi's in sporting clays and perhaps skeet, but it's very rare in trap - if for no other reason, semi's without a catcher are going to spit brass on your neighbor's feet or, even worse, their gun.

Like bozwell said, mostly break action guns.

Some common names, and some names you may not be familiar with.

Beretta
Perazzi
Krieghoff
Browning
Kolar
Alfermann
Ljutic
Zoli

To name a few.

Actually, a lot of guys start with semi-autos, then upgrade to break action guns.  Remington 1100, Beretta 391, and Winchester Super X-1 are common semi's, though since they don't make the SX-1 any more, they are seen less frequently.

After about 1500 rds the action bar welds started to crack and the rubber o ring needed replaced. Contacted cz and received new 2 piece action bar and spring. Not tried with new parts yet. Just an FYI
