P-09 next to a P-07
« on: February 09, 2013, 11:09:11 PM »
So, my brother-in-law called a local gun shop last week to inquire about their CZ inventory.  He was looking for an SP-01, but they said they only had a CZ 75 and a P-09.  He texted me their response, to which I said, "Say what?  A P-09? Get down there and check it out." He called them back to verify they hadn't said P-07 and he'd heard right the first time.  I assured him these are hot off the factory floor and that he ought to check it out.  Next thing I know, he's texting me pictures of his new gun.  Well, if your interested, here's the P-09 next to my P-07.  The P-09 he bought is a .40 cal.  It has the interchangeable backstrap and the one we both preferred is the medium size.  The large felt very odd.  It feels killer good in the hand and the omega trigger system is smooth.  The .40 magazine is 16+1 so that's a step up as well.

And get this: No price gouging.  He got it for $495.  Pretty sweet.

Check it out:

Now that's sexy.

Looking good. Interesting, the trigger is a different arc, wonder how the feel differs from the P-07

Different hammers, too.  I thought I read they changed something internally between the P07 and P09 trigger mechanism.

This is great news as everything I heard said they wouldn't be out until Spring. I'm going to a big gun show next weekend so maybe I'll get lucky. The cool thing with all the buying frenzy si that gun dealers are picking up whatever they can to have something to sell and I have seen lots of unusual guns at the LGS and the shows lately.

Awesome! I see a P09 in my future if my LGS can get some in.

I'm glad they're finally being released.

That comp hammer on the P09 has to make a noticeable difference! I'm really impressed to see that on a $500 CZ out of the box. Good job CZ!

I have found my polymer framed gun. I despise polymer frames for some reason, but when it comes to CZ the p-07 was about to be my first CZ but I like P-09, a lot!  O0

At first glance, it reminds me of the SP-01 Phantom.  Are they similar enough in outside dimension to use the same holsters?

Next big question:  What magazines does it use??  Did they go with the CZ75 magazine, or a longer P-07 one?

I am planning on getting one, I just want to know what I am in for.

Longer P-07 ones.  19 rounds 9mm and 15 rounds of .40.  Standard CZ mags are 16 rounds 9 and 12 of .40.

Now, like the P-07, the P-09 MAY be able to accept standard 75 series magazines...but we won't know until someone tries it.  (hint, hint!)

We tried standard 75b .40 mags and i think they weren't long enough to seat.

Do you know how close they were?  The AFC magazines are slightly longer than the standard 12 round magazines.  If you put a standard basepad on a AFC magazine, that little extra length may latch.  If not, SP01 magazine bodies are even longer yet and should definitely latch with a standard basepad on it.

I do have an sp-01 mag, but we didn't try it. Next time I see the p-09 we'll try it.
