CZ-24 Issue

Hi All,

I received a new-to-me CZ-24 today. Upon unpacking it and performing initial inspection, I noticed that the hammer was cocked back. I proceeded to de-cock the hammer and discovered the trigger seemed stuck. In fact, it looked cock-eyed:



Notice how the lower part of the trigger seems recessed back into the frame? Now look at the picture from before it was shipped to me:



I noticed that the seller took the pistol completely apart, including the grips, to take pictures. I'm wondering if there is a simple adjustment somewhere that I should be looking for to address this?

Digging into this a bit more. The issue only happens when the sideplate is on. With the sideplate removed, the trigger and action are fine. It appears that there is not enough clearance between the sideplate and the sear/trigger bar assembly. I will see if I can carefully remove these and inspect/clean. Any suggestions before I do so?

Keep in mind that I have no credibility with CZ24's because I've never opened one up, ever.  However, you seem to be on the right track.  Trust your senses and your instincts.  The interference between the trigger bar and the side plate may be because of crud behind the pivots for the sear and trigger bar, and seeing behind them and cleaning them out may give you more room.  Remember to lube any friction points with oil or grease, and let your instincts guide you here.  You'll feel where the drag is better than we can on the other end of the internet from you.

The sideplate is definitely the issue. Very odd, I know. I just happen to have a CZ-27 in my collection and decided to interchange some parts. The one common denominator is the sideplate. With the CZ-27 sideplate in place, everything is great. The part that stinks is that in all of my infinite care, I managed to break off one side of the sideplate screw head. I cannot for the life of me find any in stock (checked Numrich and Marstar).

The seller was gracious enough to offer to take it back and refund, or fix and return (he's a dealer and knows a good gunsmith). I took him up on his offer and will hopefully get a working CZ-24 back.
