Harrington Firing Pin Goes Belly Up
« on: June 26, 2005, 04:50:19 PM »

So I just came in from shooting my CZ52. I had stepped back to the road to try a long shot when I shot I felt something hot hit my cheek. 8o

I immediately checked the gun over in case it cracked or something, although I was just shooting the Polish surplus I've shot lots before.

Pretty quickly I noticed that there was no firing pin. I looked around and found it laying in the road. Half of it. Looks like it split in half maybe there's a little hole in it and it split on either side of the hole. I didn't see the pin had them put it in when I got the gun.

Are these warranteed? Wow, only made it thru about 1500 rounds:eek

I  had a Harrington pin break, and it would have been warrenteed if I had kept my recept. I found a man that sold me three stock firing oins for $15 shipped so I put tje stock pin back in and have had no more trouble, and that has been a year ago.

Just fired my cz with the new harrinton firing pin and it did the same thing. First shot and it came out the back end. The little round fining pin retainer is now egg shaped and pin will hang in pistol. Installed factory firing pin and everything works fine. Just e-mail makarov about this today. I think they have a problem with the hardness of the retainer from what I can see!

Harrington sent me the replacement today and it seems to work ok.

In with the new pin they sent me a note: "here is a set of our rollers for you for your trouble"  I thought that was pretty cool!

   I hope this one lasts.

Geez, I've shot a couple thousand rounds with my stock firing pin and have not had any trouble.   Just don't dry fire it and it will last a long time.   I think that's why the decocker was later added.

Harrington typically stands behind their firing pins.  Note that if you bought it from Makarov.com and you don't get a replacement from Harrington, contact us and we'll take care of it.

Regarding the pin coming out the back end, make sure you installing it right.  The new sping and plunger go in first, then the firing pin with the plunger detent towards the top of the pistol.
