Serial Numbers
« on: April 10, 2013, 03:04:00 AM »
I recently bought a cz75 sp-01 tactical and its made in 2013. the serial is around 200000... is this any indication of how many there have been made this year or ever?
Do you know of a info source that has a count of how many there are in the USA or world?

Call CZ-USA.

I wasn't born in America, but I got here as fast as I could.

CZ Ub used to be all over the place on serial number untill about 8 or so years ago.
They came out with the serial sequence starting A000001 (wish I had that one)
They are now into B (6 digits)
Czech law says every gun, spare barrel and slide must have a number so even spare barrels carry a sequential serial number!
Hope this helps

so lets say my sp-01 tactical was exactly B200000, does that mean they are at 1.2 million of ALL cz75 variants or is it just a count of sp-01's how does that work?

Serial number means number of parts that require serial numbers. Barrels, slide and complete pistols rifles etc.
So B
They have made 2M of all items across their line

Would it be 1.2m (1m "A"s + 200k "B"s) since they started this numbering scheme?
Plus how ever many were made before under previous numbering schemes...

My interpretation of Angus's info is your hypothetical serial number of B200000 indicates it's the 999,999 + 200,000 = 1,199,999th product requiring a unique serial number ? firearm or spare part ? in the last 8 or so years since the system was implemented.

ive gathered that much so far. im just curious as to if that means every cz75 variant, and if so are there any exceptions to that?

I understood him to mean everything that comes out of CZUB, including all complete pistols, rifles, shotguns, and replacement barrels and slides, and anything else that requires a serial number.  Maybe I misunderstood.

Roughly 1.2M firearms (assuming most numbered items are complete firearms) in about 8 years seems like a high production rate.

I scratched the serial numbers off of my PCR as soon as I got it because I don't worry about all that nonsense
