Where are Kadets?
« on: April 10, 2013, 05:51:53 PM »
I have really been wanting to purchase a kadet kit for my 85 combat but can't find any around.  I know a bunch of people have been waiting for them, but does anyone know why they are so scarce.  I read on here that the kadet pistol is being discontinued but why aren't they producing kadet kits?

As a guess, they are still producing them; but not at the USA's dramatically increased purchasing rate.
You'd be lucky to find .22 ammo for it here.  It too is being bought up faster than increased manufacturing can accomodate.
CCI and Federal have both posted on their sites that they are /have increased production and can't keep up with demand.

Well, I hope they can catch up with production of those kadets.  I hear so many good things about them, and would love to shoot my 85 more but less costly.  I do have quite a bit of ammo for my .22's.
Thanks for your input.

i keep waiting for ammo to catch up.  any word?   need badly.. ammo.   cuz my CZ's are just WAY to much fun to shoot.

cheers

Oh my gosh.. wow.. still,  better to have than have not..  in my humble perpective:   no reason to believe a magic yellow submarine will arrive with a boatload of kadets.

knowing what I know now. i'd buy and chalk it up to history.   look at the list of those on this (only) forum.. who want BADLY..

i didn't want to pay my price.. but am DANG glad I did.   so lucky not sold before I bought.. (biting fingers all weekend prior to buy), cuz i was so focused on 'other' high priority items which have not yet been released/available.

so i did it.  am VERY happy i did.   yep, it sucks buying a 'kit' for almost the price of a whole gun.. but trust me... you will NOT regret one moment once you shoot it.. for cheap pennies with the same feel, same trigger, same wieght.. same grip.

you CANNOT find anything like it that functions as well and is so dang accurate and fun to shoot.

me gonna start buying extra mags soon.

my .02,
kevin

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the whole gun?

I'd have to dig for the receipt to find the actual price, but as I recall it was in the $600 range. I considered just the kit but I didn't want to bother making the switch and possibly having fit problems. I have a 75B that has had a fair amount of work done to it and I wanted the kadet to mimic the 75 so they felt the same when practicing with the kadet. I use the 75 for IDPA.

I ended up having a trigger job from the custom shop and a fiber optic sight installed; then hogue grips and the two guns are close to identical. The kadet runs great.

Sorry for the rambling since you only asked about the price.  :-[

Hey I appreciate all the info I can get.  I was thinking about purchasing the kadet pistol  and found one for over $700 which is a little too expensive for me.  Thats why I was hoping to get a kadet kit.  But it sure would be convienent to have the entire kadet pistol.  Does the kadet pistol have the same weight and feel as your 75?

Thanks for the info
Pauli

Hey Paul:
Yes, the Kadet is so close to the CZ75 it'd be hard to tell the difference in the dark
You know, if you just want the "Kit" (Upper and Mags) you could always sell the Lower to recoop some of your cost

Yes, they feel exactly the same. I forgot to mention that I also had the competion hammer installed...same on my 75. I had my 75 converted to a SA but I left the kadet DA/SA. I put the hogue wrap around rubber grips on both guns as well.

In the end I spent more on my 75B with all the conversions than I should have to make it a competition gun, but I bought it used, in like new conditon for $300, with 3 boxes of ammo and a large case, so I had some room to play. Now my kadet is just like it and it's a ton of fun to shoot. Accurate and reliable. I have a kydex Bladetech holster that works great for either gun.
