Choice for USPSA Limited? Tac Sport or custom 75?
« on: April 22, 2013, 05:19:02 PM »
Hey all- I'm interested in a new pistol for Limited. I've been shooting my SP01 Shadow in USPSA Production for a while and feeling pretty good with it. However, I would like to shoot limited major.

I had been planning on a SAO conversion of my 75B in .40S&W, however, I just saw a NIB Tac Sport at my LGS. I had not been thinking about going this direction at all, but wow, the trigger is sweet.

By the time I put a bunch of custom work into my 75, it will be a $1000 pistol that holds 16 rounds. The TS is $1150 and has more capacity which is an advantage in Limited. I know there are probably pros and cons to either, but would love some input.

So, fellow forum members, who has shot Limited with either? Both? How much custom work did you put into your TS?

If it fits your hand...Tactical Sport all the way.  Like you said, for the money you will spend doing a conversion and making it exactly how you want...you could have just bought the TS and been competitive with any STI/SVI out there (except that you will have MORE reliable mags than they do!)

FWIW, I have done the conversion and use a converted 75B .40 in Limited.  With the CZCustom 140mm basepads, CZCustom springs and followers...I can still only get 15 rounds in a tube...and get some nose diving when feeding.  The TS gives you more capacity than that from the get go AND will do it reliably.

The only negative I have heard about the TS is that it has a hard time with bullet profiles other than round nose.  My Uncle used to shoot truncated cone in his with no problems, but he also reloaded and could tailor the round to feed properly.

limited is about more bullets...
Tac Sport can get you to the level to compete, .40 in a smaller 75 frame is not going to get to the round count you need.
