Size of CZ75B hammer retaining pin
« on: July 21, 2013, 11:45:24 AM »
Can anyone give me the exact measurements of the hammer retaining pin for a CZ75B?

I found one from a vendor, but it's a $0.50 part that would require $10 to ship. So I'd like to hit the hardware store to find something that would work, but I can't quite take the frame into the store to try things out.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure I have an extra one that I can mail you if you don't have to have it today. It is one of David's CGW hammer pins.

Edit: Oops, I missed the "retaining" part of your request.  I have a hammer pin, but not the retaining pin, sorry... :(

No worries. Thanks anyway.

I'm looking for the dimensions of PN 19 here:

https://shop.cz-usa.com/czpartslists/CZ75B_fullsize_9MM.pdf

It's the pin that loads from the top of the frame under the safety detent and rests parallel to the mag.

If I could get the dimensions I may be able to find a solid roll pin which would work. I was figuring I could cut off an allen wrench to the right length with a dremel, but I don't want to get that ghetto yet. haha

Oh, that's a tough one!

I supposed I could use an M3 dowel pin, but they seem to only be available in 6 or 8mm lengths. So I could get an 8 and file it lightly, or try to use something a hair short. hmmmm

Thanks for the reply!

In SAE it's .086" OD, the length I can't remember.  This is a common drill rod size.

A #44 wire-size drill bit as schmeky said.

You can buy a 10-pack of #44 drill bits at Harbor Freight for about $5 +tax, if they are in stock..  That low stress pin doesn't need a high quality tool grade steel.

Ah. Cool. Thanks, guys.

I hit the hardware store today and found a stainless 0.08" cotter pin I'm going to Dremel up tomorrow for the hammer retaining pin. Plus I'll get bling points with the stainless. haha

Depending on how bad I hack that up, or how bad that -6 thous rattles, I'll try out the drill bit. With both options I'll have enough length that I can make a slave pin for the trigger, too.

Thanks for the length!

**Edit. The 0.08" is definitely too loose. I'll try out the drill bit tomorrow!

A note of caution, be sure the pin slips in and out easily. If any pressure is required to insert it you may find that it has "Grown IN" when next you need to remove it!

IF the bit is too snug, put it in a drill backwards and polish it with 800-1000 grit carborundum paper  'till it will slip in and out smoothly.  MORE bling too! ;)

Made two pins today using a black oxide bit, and a silver bit. Used one as a slave pin for the trigger spring, and one for the actual spot it was intended. Both worked great.  ;D

Thank you guys very much. Now I can quit looking through every single strand of carpet in my dining room with passionate OCD and my wife will quit giving me strange sideways glances as she slowly walks towards the door with her luggage.

I just vacuum until I hear a sharp sound, then pull the canister out and it'll be on the bottom.  Done that with legos, small pins, etc.
(I do have one of those silly cyclone vacuums with a clear canister that lends itself to this method...)
