CZ P06 Pros and Cons?

I've been lurking on this forum for a while, and after much consideration, I've narrowed my choice down to a P06.  I enjoy the DA/SA and hammer drop of a pistol.  I'm active duty Air Force, and I carry a Beretta M-9 (FS) everyday.  I've become accustomed to this type of firearm, and can't shoot a striker fired pistol worth a crap.  I own a SA XDM .40, Glock 23 G3, Ruger LCP, Taurus PT 1911 and I can't shoot any of them, with the exception of the 1911, with any real accuracy.  I also own an FNX 9 mm, Beretta PX4 .40 and shoot those with precision, and I think it's due to the action.  I don't know what else to contribute it to.  I was looking for a steel framed pistol, not polymer framed...hence the choice of the CZ P06.  So I ask all of you CZ P06 experts what are some pros and cons of this firearm.  Every firearm has pros and cons, and I try to put guns in my hands that have more pros than cons.  I came across ONE at a gun show this past weekend in Denver, and the asking price was $649.  I personally thought this was outrageous.  I know price is dependent largely on location, so what do you think a reasonable price would be for a BNIB P06?  Thank you all for your sage advice.

Pros: It's a CZ and it's a 40S&W.

Cons: It's expensive and it's hard to find.

I bought my P-06 at my favorite local gun store/pawn shop back in April 2013. I paid $639 plus tax. MSRP is $660 so $649 is still a reasonable price IMO.

It's a great gun, mine is very accurate and reliable. I just don't shoot it very much anymore. I've moved more towards the 9mm cartridge. Unfortunately the scarcity and growing popularity of CZs have lead to the increased cost of owning them. I think I paid $400 for mine in 2008.

Very accurate and dead reliable. Like the previous poster, I also shoot 9mm more today. I do use the P-06 as a bed side gun (with a light on it). I trust the gun 100%. I've put thousands of rounds through it and it has never missed a beat.
The only con, if any, is the stock trigger. I've shot a lot worse triggers but I've also shot a lot better.

P06 Pros: solid, ultra reliable, very accurate, natural grip & pointing, easy to fire and easy to handle, easy to field strip & clean.  Hammer fired, will discharge harder primers such as on military ammo, especially Israeli ammo. Pistol can be stored for years, cartridge in chamber, hammer half-cocked, in ready to fire condition.  (My wife can't rack slide to chamber a round.)  Comes with night sights. Excellent finish and workmanship.  High resale value, if you should ever decide to part with one.  PO6 & PO1 are most accurate pistols I have owned (of many).  Alloy frame allows Crimson Trace Laser Grips and standard holsters, whereas polymer frame guns normally do not, which means they must use a front mounted laser and special holster.

P06 Cons:  magazine holds only 10 rounds, and extends below grip, thus harder to conceal grip when CCW.

Comparison to some of your other guns:  Far more accurate than Beretta M9/92/96.  Much much better trigger than LCP, & much easier to handle.  Just as accurate as SA XDM (I found all mine very accurate also).

I found the 10rnd Pro Mag magazines work awesome(in the gun below). Always been reliable for me and are just short of being flush as you can see. I also have what I believe is a Rammi mag. Holds 8 but it is the same size as the Pro Mag. It came with the gun. It does not feed reliably though, the couple times I messed with it.Too bad,cuz it sits flush. And of course the factory P-06 mag...

I've had my P-06 for 2 weeks and I love it. It is the best shooting .40s&w handgun I've ever owned.
Very accurate. I have a lot of CZ's, but this is the first one in .40s&w. The other .40's I've owned were
Glocks and since they don't fit my hand very well, the recoil seemed alot more snappy. I didn't care for them.
The P-06 is a keeper.

MAn I really wish I could land one of these. I have a 75B in .40 and I like it as much as my match 1911. Anyone have both a 75 in .40 and a P-06?

Cons....for me the only con is, it hurts my trigger finger when I fire it. I don't know what it is, but it almost feels like it slaps my finger somehow??? Anyone have any imput on this?

never had that happen on any of my CZ's.  all 3  .40cals are easy/sweet shooters.

It's the stock trigger.  Try swapping it out for an original 85c trigger.

I believe the CZ 75 P-06, like the P-01, has an aluminum, not steel, frame.

If you are wanting a carry CZ, the P-01 is more than a quarter inch lower in height (the grip is the hardest part to conceal), you get 4 additional rounds, and most will shoot it better (due to less recoil).  And, like most Euro pistol makers, the 9 Luger is CZ's design canvas.

On the plus side, .40 S&W seems to be available these days.

In my opinion, the con is the weight. I prefer the heft of the steel CZ75 Compact .40 as it controls the recoil better for me than the allow frame of the P-06.  After a couple hundred rounds at the range, there is nothing like steel to make it easier on the hand.

I don't have a steel frame CZ compact in .40, but I do have a P-06 with the alloy frame and it is a joy to shoot.
The recoil is nowhere near as bad as my Glock 23.
