Chrome plating

When a gun is chrome plated (not from the factory) is everything plated, e.g. springs, roll pins, hammer, etc.? Should everything be plated?

Usually just the major pieces, that is the frame and slide.  After plating some machining may be necessary as the plating process adds to the metal.
