Nick in the finish on my P01. How do I hide it?
« on: August 21, 2013, 11:51:01 AM »
Hi All.. I've put a small nick in the finish of my P01 and have a bright aluminum spot showing through. I've hit it with a black sharpie a couple times and it looks great until it wears off. Has anyone had any luck with anything else?

Thanks!

I'm in the same boat.
The nick bugs me a bit, but I try to ignore it.
I've heard good things about Brownells Aluma Hyde but I think there is a auto paint touch up product that matches the polycoat quite well.

I'm sure someone will chime in with the specifics.

You might try a touch-up pen made for guns.  Birchwood makes some that can be purchased at Amazon, Midway, and Brownells.  I installed a set of Meps night sights on my Tristar C-100.  Because I don't have all the proper tools and am not a smith, there were a few light marks on the finish.  I did not have metal showing through, but am happy with the results of the touch-up.  I think I got a flat finish pen from Midway.   Anyway, it won't set you back too much to try it.

Buy some black nail polish and make it all pretty again.

My SP-01 developed a nick and the Birchwood touch up pen worked great to fix it.

I have one of the flat black touch up pens.
I'll give it a try and see how it does, if I have time this week.

Actually I wouldn't worry about it.  It is cosmetic.  Move on.   8)

Try Birchwood/Casey Aluminum Black. http://www.amazon.com/Birchwood-Casey-Aluminum-Black-Finish/dp/B004GGL8SW This is only good for very small nicks and scratches on Aluminum alloy. Just touch the nick with a tiny artists brush or something similar.
