DPM recoil reduction system
« on: August 28, 2013, 07:50:00 PM »
My 14 year old daughter just graduated into 9mm and my full size czs are a little heavy and my p-01 kicks a little too much for her anyone tried these systems ?  I worry about them damaging my slide. Any input would be appreciated.

I've considered getting this system.  Reports I've read here and elsewhere vary.  Some claim it does nothing noticeable.  One fellow said it made his pistol (75 C?) shoot substantially low (easily fixed with a rear sight of taller height ? 7 heights to choose from at CZ-USA for $9/ea).  I've never heard anyone complain about the system damaging a pistol.  I have read warnings about stainless steel guide rods causing damage to aluminum frames, but I think some folks use them without problems.

If you end up buying, let us know how it works.

I used one on a P-07 .40 and it noticeably reduced the recoil from unpleasant to manageable. Really doubt it will cause any damage to your slide.

Is Shootersbox the only place to buy them? I called the 4 gun stores in my area and none knew where to get one

Interestingly, DPM-USA says the system is designed for the aluminum-framed compacts.  There is no mention of the 75 Compact.  Thus, it should work fine in your P-01.

I tried on in my 75 Shadow T  (full size)   when shooting it i did NOT notice any difference.   when shooting it on a ransom rest i noticed only about 1/4 of an inch difference in muzzle jump. in my eyes i don't see enough of a difference to pay the $75

My 14 year old daughter just graduated into 9mm and my full size czs are a little heavy and my p-01 kicks a little too much for her

How many rounds has she actually shot with the P-01? When I first shot my P-06 .40S&W (graduating up from a P-01 9mm) I didn't like the harder recoil at all. But after about 50 - 100 rounds I had gotten used to it enough that I actually enjoy shooting it now.

Perhaps she just needs to shoot the P-01 more to get used to the recoil. You can also try a heavier bullet, like a 147gr, to lessen the recoil a little.

I think your right, We have been blessed to be able to get plenty of 9mm through this whole panic so we go out twice a week. With her only starting out with the 9mm maybe I should give her some more time. She very much enjoys shooting but I don't want to push her and have her be afraid of the gun. She shot the sp-01 which has nearly no recoil but she said the gun was too heavy, same with my Sig p226. I guess I am trying to solve a problem that might not be a problem.  A friend told me to try a 14lb spring but  my p-01 already throws brass 30 feet, my local gunsmith says that if I try a lighter spring that it would be worse. As far as the shadow, How are they for recoil compared to a full size 75 or sp-01? One more thing, I emailed cz custom and complained about 12.50 shipping for rubber base plates and someone named Rob got back to me and said if I called him to make the order it would be 27 dollars for 3 rubber base plates plus 5.23 for first class shipping. I thought that was very nice of him. Just thought I would pass that along.

I have one on my P-02 and I use it for competition. I've put about 2,000 rounds through it, I'd guess. I have gotten  used to it, but if memory serves, I think it takes up about 20% of the recoil, depending on the load. As for undue wearing on my alloy slide where it rests just forward of the trigger spring, I have seen ZERO, none. NADA wear on mine.

Just for the record.
