I HATE, HATE, HATE what they did to Starship Troopers!!!!

You Starship Troopers fans need to read Armor, by John Steakley.  To hear John Steakley say it -- he wouldn't have needed to write Armor if Heinlein could write action sequences.   :)   It was a favorite to win the Nebula Award for best science fiction book the year it came out, but it was disqualified on a technicality by the head of the Nebula Committee.  On a side note: the book that won that year was Ender's Game, soon to be in a theater near you.  Probably not so coincidentally, the head of the Nebula Committee, who disqualified Armor, was Orson Scott Card, the Author of Ender's Game, the book that won.  Nice, eh?

Anyway, if you're a Starship Troopers fan, read Armor.  It's superior.

I HATE, HATE, HATE what they did to Starship Troopers!!!! I will never forgive Hollywood for ruining one of the greatest sci-fi books of all time. The movies have about as much to do with the book as Diney's "Fox and the Hound" had to do with THAT book! GAH!

+1 !  >:(  Perhaps they will someday produce a remake, actually based on the Book!  Would also like to see a movie of his book "Red Planet".

BTW, Heinlein kept a 1903 Springfield Rifle.

Enders Game was WAY too predictable IMO.

Nobody mentioned the Desert Eagle.  In the movies without mods.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

Thanks for the tip, I'll look into it.  At the same time, suggest you have a go at Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.

Back on topic...  The Desert Eagle reminded me how much I get a kick out of seeing contemporary hardware in sci-fi.  My nomination for timeless hero gun is the Ithaca Model 37.  Not only was it about the only thing Reese could slow the Terminator with in 'the past', but also Hicks's go-to gun for 'close encounters' with Aliens:

Quite an interesting forum! I believe it is possible to find good movies and shows here. I was just looking for some more shows by Andy Yeatman because we have finished watching the ones available on Netflix. I don?t like the kids? content on Netflix now because he doesn?t work for it anymore.

My favorite sci-fi gun is the Beretta cxstorm used in Battlestar Galactica. I have one and use it occasionally in PCC matches. It?s a hoot!
