Need some help with a 1987 TZ 75 rebuild
« on: October 03, 2013, 09:48:35 PM »
I have been wanting to rebuild a gun and found one in a 1987 Tz 75.
The bad, finish is shot, and needs new springs, a mag brake, and a piece to the safety and possibly a new firing pin and the mag that was with it is not correct and is for a series 88.
The good, barrel is in good shape, has most of the parts. I picked up a very good condition TA90 trigger, bar, and complete sear group and some pins and hammer cup.

Can this gun be saved? And I dont know what part or parts Im missing for the safety, more specific what goes in the hole under the rear site??
And I have read that CZ75 pre "B" mags should fit a pre series 88? And does anyone know how to install the trigger spring?

According to this forum post,  the 77 non-88 model had a slide mounted safety---the hole under the sight.
http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=5&f=4&t=58084

There were several articles available about them by Googling "FIE TZ-75 made in 1987"
Several said EEA witness mags fit,  some said 75B mags fit.
An old thread here had some info:  http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=32678.0

Tanfogliio might have tear-down info if you search.   ??
Good luck.

I have only found 1 diagram of the correct pre series 88, TZ75 and it's not a great copy on steves pages. And I have not been able to find any pics of a complete safety and it's parts. If anyone has the safety pics let me know.... A far as mags go I have 2 1988 Tanfoglio Iserali surplus pistols (TA90?) and those mags are the small frame witness mags and those mags will not fit the TZ75, they bottom out on the sear housing and stick out about 3/4" from the magwell.  From what I have read in the clone  mag thread that CZ75 pre B mags should fit, but I would like some more people to chim in on that.... Also I have installed the TA90 trigger and sear parts in and they function fine. And the slide of the TZ75, and my Iserali surplus (TA90) will interchange and the slides lock back. Still cannot figure out how to install the trigger srping

Here are some new pics. I have installed the TA90 trigger and sear group. Also have new recoil, hammer, extractor, trigger spring. Waiting on a new trigger bar spring. But wanted to show that the slide off the 1987 TZ75 will fit and lock the slide of a 1988 TA90 Israeli surplus, and vise versa.

Interesting!  8)  You have made good progress in restoring this Pistol.  Note that if you go to re-Blue that the metallurgy of the day had a higher Nickel Content.
