Local Steel Chalenge Today.
« on: September 21, 2013, 05:56:53 PM »
Had great time this morning at Langehorne R&G Club. Very different though. 5 targets per stage with 6 shots max per round. 4 rounds per stage - throw out slowest time.

Shot using 7625 powder which was very nice! Had decent times in the 4 second range with 5 steels but always missed 1st shot on any steel eye level or higher. (5' 8") At least I was consistent.

Any suggestions from the peanut gallery?  ???

Use a 5 gallon bucket for a range bag then stand on it during the course of fire.   :P

Were you shooting first shot DA or cocked and locked?
Low ready or from the holster with  hands above shoulders at the buzzer?

This match was low ready.
But since I us DA in IDPA & USPSA, I had kept 1st shot DA. On this match it is 5 targets with 6 rounds in the mag - 72 shots max. I missed 2 steel which cast me 10 seconds.  :(
I was kinda happy since I placed 10th out of 27!  :D

Sounds like you did well and had fun too. Many times when hurrying shooters will just force their arms to the target and it will result in a miss especially if there is recoil to recover from when more than one shot is required. High targets or targets through a low barrel are prime offenders. Many guys I watch force the arms up and when the trigger breaks immediately go to the neutral position and the shot goes low. Try to keep a good neutral body posture when shooting. You may have too aggressive a lean behind the gun. Remember we are evil people and create target arrays to test you.  ;)

Thanks! Makes Sense.
Will give try and remember for next Saturday which is our next local Steel Shoot.
