SP-01 rear sight set screw?
« on: November 07, 2013, 07:04:32 PM »
I just picked up a new SP-01 from my FFL and it looks like a set screw is missing from the rear sight. I can see bare metal threads.

There is an included Allen wrench I imagine goes to it.

Am I losing it or have I lost a screw?

I'm pretty sure I emailed and asked CZ and they said this is how it's supposed to be.

Mine came WITH the set screw. Pretty sure you could convince them to send you one if you are worried about it moving.

Wow thanks for the post.  My set-screw was halfway out, about to go missing.  Loctited now...

I traded for a SP-01 Tactical, and the rear sight didn't have a set screw. Sight was loose enough to flop around just rocking the gun right to left.

Sent the slide back to CZ USA, and it came back just like yours, with a setscrew. I think that's a superior system, so I'm glad you found one!

Mine is in there pretty tight but has no screw. Should I ask them to add one?

Kazaaam: mine was in there tight as well but I didn't like an empty screw hole. I used a 4mmX4 set screw that came in a pack of 4 for $1.50 from a local hobby store.

If you message me your address I'll send you one.

Not intending to "kick" the topic to keep it alive, but I bought a new SP-01 last week and noticed there was a missing set screw in the rear sight.  The sight is very firmly seated and I had my gunsmith check to make sure it will not easily come out.  I called CZ about the missing set screw and they sent me a replacement under the warranty.  It arrived today and was very easy to put in since it's too small diameter.  I think it's an M3x4 instead of the M4x4 that it should be.  I'll stop at my local hardware store to get the right size set screw.  CZ is still shipping the SP-01 with a small Allen wrench in a nice zip-lock plastic bag in the box with the gun.  One would think if they include the Allen wrench they'd make sure there's a set screw installed into the rear sight.

I stopped by Lowe's today and bought a four pack of M4 set screws.  When I got home I found that the Allen wrench included with my SP-01 perfectly fit those set screws and one of those M4 set screws fit perfectly into the threaded hole in the rear sight!  I put the other three M4 set screws in the zip lock bag with the Allen wrench from CZ.
