So Should I ...
« on: November 19, 2013, 09:54:46 PM »
Well I have 2 months + of 9mm & .45acp along with 3 months of .38/.357. All are plated. (A few of the .38/.357 are XTP)

So if I add lead to my mix, should it be BBI or Bayou Bullets?

Try them both and give us a detailed comparison O0
I have tried and like the BBIs 125gr 9mm and they seem to be easier to come by in tough times than Bayou Bullets. I will eventually try Bayou but just bought 7k of the Extreme 124gr 2nds from RMR so I might have to wait a month so.
If you are interested in trying the BBI 125s LMK.

I prefer Precision Bullets. They are swaged, so they are uniform in weight and size and very accurate.
Otherwise, try 'em and see which you like.

Either or.  BBI is changing from using their old moly coating to the same Hi-Tek coating that Bayou Bullets uses.

Really the only difference comes down to which profile you prefer.

I'll let you know after I test the Bayou.

One thing that Bayou has that BBI doesn't is a 135 grain option.

I did see that!
They also have the 150grn wad  cutter. I would think that was made more for .38 Super but I don't know for sure.

BBI does have a 135 gr.  It's special order.  Automatic accuracy uses it for their comp load

Murph, I've seen the 135 BBI's described as "proprietary" for Automatic Accuracy.  Do you think you can actually buy the bullets?

BBI offers a "custom size option" ... maybe if they don't do 135 they will do 134  ;)

"Custom size" more than likely refers to "sizing" the bullet's diameter; as in .355, .357, or .358" instead of the standard .356".  Custom sizing is available through many different bullet manufacturers.

Thats good to know since I would prefer .357
When I first tried .356 had some serious leading. My barrel slugged a hair over .355.

Measured with a micrometer or a caliper?

I like to use a yard stick.

In all seriousness, I haven't slugged mine.  Now I'm curious.  You guys use hardcast bullets or swaged bullets?

I have been very happy with lucky 13. Their 9mm is .357 free shipping too. That may only be in NC though.
