The grips turned out very nice. What a great way to spice up an all black gun for not a lot of money. Do you figure they were around $20 or so each set? What color is that last set called?

He typically charges 18 dollars a set, however he gave me a discount because I provided him with the grips to make the molds from.

I agree, very inexpensive way to dress up a gun on the cheap. The last set are a pearl white, they have just a touch of a pearlesence sparkle to them. I really like the faux wood ones on the k2 as well, he can do just about any color u can think of.

I have 2 sets of the Sar K2 grips coming from him now, Very reasonable on the price -now we will see how they hold up to a beating , the originals are cheap and crack easily I am hoping these will solve that issue.

Mine should be coming in tomorrow; got one set in black and one in marbled dark red.  I was going to request faux wood (wattle or something like the SR1911), but wasn't sure that he would be able pull it off.  After seeing your's, Darin, I think that I should have had more confidence.

I think they'll hold up very well.  I've gotten other grips from David before and although I don't know exactly what they're made of (other than their a cast resin), they don't have the cheap brittle plastic feel of the stock SAR grips.  I don't think they'll crack easy.  I did some sanding and smoothing on some witness grips I got from him and I really gave em what for at times and had no issues, they held up well.

Well, finally got to my first range trip after installing these.  The grips came loose while shooting, but not enough to be a distraction.  However, while cleaning last night I noticed that the right-side grip had cracked by the screw.

I didn't tighten them that tightly, so I don't know why they broke down there.

Got my grips from him, and they work great. Also got a free set from Taskarms in Florida that will be for backup (thinking about getting another K2 someday). It still blows my mind how Sar can cheap out on the grips so bad. Other than the front sight having a roll pin thru the top (don't know how to remove it), the grips are my only gripe. I love this gun.

Those aren't the SAR grips--they are the ones from Tillander Gun Grips..

Metalgravy, that sucks.  You may want to email him and see if he'll send you a replacement panel.  I was afraid these grips may be too thin even for the stuff he uses.  He said he makes a lot of very thin grips for other guns with no issues.  I've not had any issues with mine yet, but then I haven't shot them much since I got them.

Message sent.  I guess the search continues for replacements  :(.  Oddly enough, I could swear that these felt denser than the SAR grips, but I guess they still aren't strong enough.  Is there anything that I can do to reinforce these?

Ouch. Didn't realize that Metalgravy. Honestly, I only put 200 rounds thru mine, and that is no super test. If those crack also, I may try to carve some out of wood. Seems like the Sar would be a good candidate for aluminum, but there should be some kind of epoxy that wont crack. My first set, I tried supergluing back together, but it was still to brittle. Electrical tape held it together until I got the new grips.

Well, he's sending a replacement, so that's good.

After my first set broke, I glued them back together and then put aluminum tape on the back to, I don't know, reinforce it or something.  They didn't break again after that.  After installing these, I applied some Liquid Tape to the back of the old ones.  I don't know if that will provide any sort of padding or reinforcement, but I doubt that it will hurt.

I might just go back to my previous idea of trying to make my own primitive-ass grips out of kydex or ABS.  I don't know if either would be able to handle the stress, but it probably couldn't hurt to try--unless the grips shatter and embed shards in my hands...that might hurt a little. :o
