Yeah, what's the issue you're solving?

Yeah, what's the issue you're solving?

From the thread over on Arfcom that I linked to earlier in this thread:

Quote
"What the problem is and what causes it

The VZ58 "gremlin" is a condition that can result in the striker not being caught by the sear and follwing the carrier home, leaving the rifle uncocked.
The "gremlin" shows itself when for one of several reasons, the sear re-connects to the disconnector after the carrier has disconnected them during its rearward travel.

- Obiwanbonjovi

He follows that with a pretty detailed explanation of how the re-connect actually occurs, and why a tabbed bolt carrier solves the problem in semi-auto VZs

I am a welder and I have personally performed five tab constructions and welds.  All have shot flawlessly afterward.  Mail it to me and I'll mail it back.  PM me if your interested.

Forced March -- what would your pricing be?

Can you share some pics of your work/bolt carriers' tabs?

And do you follow bonesteel's hardening method/can you share more about your process?

Thank you.

Anyone have a picture of what the bolt carrier looks like after it has been tabbed?
Love to play with fast women, sharp knives & loud guns, if the wife says it's okay....

I TIG weld them into place, get them real nice and hot, then quench them in oil.  I charge $50 shipped if you send me your old bolt carrier.

I've tabbed many a bolt carrier.

Here is an example of my work, my welding work appears on the bolt carrier at the top of each photo.  The bottom carrier is factory:
