I am thinking either hammer profile different or recoil spring too heavy so slide doesn't quite go far back enough to fully cock hammer.

I could also be that the trigger bar isn't getting pushed down far enough to reset the sear.

reshp1,  Thanks for the reply.   When I rack the slide the hammer cocks OK, so that is why I was thinking it was the length of travel causing the problem.   I will have a look at the trigger bar movement when I get a chance.

Are you holding down the trigger when you're racking the slide? Otherwise, the trigger bar doesn't have to reset for the sear to catch the hammer. If you are, I agree it sounds like a short-stroking problem.

I wasn't holding the trigger while racking.   I am going to give it all a good visual and cleaning and try it again with a hotter ammo and see how it goes.    Due to work it will be after next weekend before I can get to the range.

Thanks for the help.  CW

I know this thread is pretty old now but I just wanted to say thank you to Joe for making this video. Finding instructions for this has been like trying to find bigfoot for me. I appreciate it.

You are welcome.  I have to go look at my own videos before I take one of my own P-09's apart.  Haven't had to touch mine in a while.

I definitely agree about finding help videos for the P-09, there are not many available.  Also would like to give a big thank you to Joe for his work with the P-09 and the very good videos.  I just put the CGW race hammer and SRK in my open P-09 after watching them a couple times, made my life much easier.
