Thanks DB.

You are absolutely correct in all aspects.   5,600 rifles in 4 years is a very small number in the firearms business here in the USA.   When you compare vz.58 rifle sales to AR-15 and AK type rifle sales in the USA, the vz.58 doesn't even move the needle on the scale.   Even though the vz.58 is a great rifle, the majority of military-type rifle owners are not interested in it.   And, the few people who are interested in venturing outside of the AK or AR-15 world will often refer to the internet for vz.58 information.

5,600 4 years = 1,400 rifles per year.

So through 2012 plus 2013 and 2014 = 8,400 continuing the trend across 6 years.
And doubling sales the most recent 2 years would be 11,200 over 6 years.

There were some rifles in country before Czechpoint w/ CZ-USA/Dtechnic markings, but uncertain how many...

Again, supporting the proposition that we've had a substantial increase in VZ58s and variants in one year due to the VZ2008 deals...

Anyone else have a Paragon marked receiver?  Or pictures of it.  We might have a 4th variant of VZ2008 receiver...  Thanks to CollectorVegas for research bringing this overlooked one to light.

I just received a new VZ2008 from Century Arms part number RI2149-X. Receiver is marked VZ2008 Sporter Paragon MFG Inc. Westfield, MA. The bolt carrier is not tabbed and the trigger dis-connector tab has not been modified. Only visible modification is that the bolt carrier hump has been rounded off in the area that contacts the dis-connector. I contacted Century Customer support and asked them how they are addressing the miss-fire (gremlin) problem. The person I spoke with was not aware of any problems with this rifle and told me to contact their Tech Desk. Sent off an email and haven't heard back yet. Don't want to shoot it until it is repaired. This is a design flaw that needs to be addressed.

My first generation Century VZ2008 Sporter with fixed stock bought sometime mid 2012 is S/N VZ052XX.  Yes, that is not a typo, that's how many digits it has.  It is engraved on left side just below the rear sight.

My third generation Century Sporter VZ2008 with folding stock bought earlier this year is S/N VZ08PM-0018XX and is dot-punch engraved left side down by the magazine well.

ETA:

Recently purchased Czechpoint SA vz.58 Sporter .223 Rem Pistol S/N 56003XXCA.

We have close ones. Mine with S/N VZ053XX, fixed stock, bought from a small dealer in Missouri.

Why do I carry a gun? Because I am too old to fight, run or take an ass whippin'. I persevere to die at a rip old age, in my own bed, NOT at a time or place of another person's choosing!

Read the stickied gremlin thread.  You need a tab.  Contact ForcedMarch -- also a sticky.

I bought one from classicfirearms last week and received a rifle with a receiver marked paragon mfg inc.

The disconnector is not modified and the bolt carrier  has been rounded off on the disconnector side.

I experienced the gremlin today firing it for the 2nd time. Hopefully forcedmarch fabrication can fix it up for me.
