Just picked up a Canik 55 Stingray-C
« on: March 28, 2014, 08:16:42 PM »
I just picked up this beauty. I came across the Stingray when searching for all stainless steel CZs. I found that majority of CZs were not all steel but mostly alloy framed or polymer. I already had polymer guns so this came across my search. I had researched this gun for a little over 2 months now and told myself I'd take this afternoon and search around my local gun shops (I have 4 right near me) and see if anyone had one in stock. I figured no one would, but if they did, it must be serendipity and it was meant to be mine. Well low and behold the last gunshop I checked had one!!!!

It is a handsome firearm with great ergos. I was dryfiring with a snap cap and was impressed with the single action trigger, the double was smooth but heavy.

I like the luminescent night sights. Too bad they aren't genuine tritium but at least they are steel and adjustable. I really like them.

I read a couple of people had issues with the rails not being in spec so I quick took the APL off my Glock and slapped it on this little beauty and it fit perfectly. No a budge of movement so mine is good-to-go.

The fit and finish is excellent on this firearm. I do have one issue, my barrel had tooling chatter marks in the very beginning of the rifling. I don't feel this will affect accuracy since it's only in the first 1/4" of the rifling and the rest of the rifling is mirror perfect straight to the crown. I plan on a range day with it on Monday so I'll give an updated report then. Anyhow, I just wanted to share. I love this all steel beast and am impressed with the high quality of this budget firearm. I hope it shoots well!!!!

It looks like the older style Stingray-C with a chrome barrel, adjustable sights and a hard chrome finish.  Congrats!  ;D  It looks like a really nice pistol.  I look forward to your range report.

Nice pistol. I have an older Canik and I love it. Bought second hand and it is now my go to defense pistol. 2 15 round mags and under $300. It will eat anything.

Thank you clement! I didn't know there were 2 types of the stingray-c. What are the differences of the old to the new style?

I kinda kick myself in the butt for not picking one of these up when I could have. Looks like they are great for the range. Good looking gun sir.

cz,
The double action is smooth and pretty heavy, the single action is very nice. It's a very good factory trigger with solid reset to it. It's not as good as my P-07's trigger was. That Omega trigger was just crazy good but this one is pretty close. Mind you, this is all coming from a guy who usually shoots striker fired pistols (mostly Glock).

wow you must have a better built stingray/trigger than i did, cause my double action i clearly remember because its looong heavy stacking pull then hits the wall then....click, then a very loong reset and another long take up before it clicks.  i also have a po7 with clearly a better trigger.

Hi Steve. The gun shop was High Velocity Firearms in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. This was the last one he had in stock. He said he had only ever gotten two from his supplier, one was black and the chrome one I bought. The black one had been bought about a month before he got the chrome one in.

Address and number:

8 N Market St #10, Selinsgrove, PA 17870
(570) 486-6601

Their website:

Good luck brother!
