That makes sense.  But isn't the fitting of the Kadet slide to the frame primarily in the area that doesn't move?

I believe that area or part of the Kadet kit that does not move is called the housing.  The slide is the part that reciprocates.  The manual for the Kadet talks about fitting the slide to a frame on pages 24-25 of the manual.  See link below.
