Uncle inquiring about unfired CZ 83, private purchase

My uncle called me today asking if he should buy a CZ 83, unfired, with manual and box and 3 mags total for $650.

I told him I bought mine in January from Cole's for $209.

He is adamant it says 9mm Luger but I was under the impression they were only made in .32acp and .380 auto.

He thinks the production date in mid 1980s.

What do I need to tell him?
He is near Philly, if location matters at all.
I told him offer $350 cash and meet at $450 or $500 if he really wants it.

Also told him there was a 75 on buds for under $500

He said he wants it because he doesn't have a 9mm and it's Czech made

I also told him that 9mm Browning is not 9mm luger but he was persistent about it saying luger...

If someone told me that he was considering buying a 9mm Luger CZ-83 for $650, I would suggest to him  that he may have misremembered either the caliber or the pistol's model number.  (Of course, every time I say something like this some much more experienced guy pops up and says "Oh, no, that's not right. ", but I am pretty sure that the '83 was produced only in .32, .380 (9 mm Browning) and 9x18 (9 mm Makarov).

He sent me a photoof the manual and box and it's definitely an 83, but I have yet to see the actual gun

I wouldn't pay $650 for an 83 regardless of caliber.

I bought a nice used CZ83 for $211. 

The price seems high.

Whatever it may or may not be, it isn't a CZ 83 in 9mm Luger (9mm Parabellum, 9x19mm, etc.).  My understanding is that the design itself is not compatible with 9mm Luger pressures/velocities. 

I have never seen a blowback pistol of the traditional Browning type chambered in 9mm Luger.  (The Hi-Points are simple blowbacks, but they are not "Browning type" blowbacks, at least to my understanding.)

Everything the folks said in the posts above is correct.

The chance of that pistol being an unfired / NIB CZ83 chambered in 9x19mm / 9mm Luger / 9mm Parabellum is somewhere between 0.00% and maybe 0.01%.

The CZ83 / CZ82 Pistol is one of my absolute favorite semi-automatic designs - but $650 (even with a pair of extra magazines) is priced quite high.  There are numerous excellent NIB 9x19mm semi-auto pistols that you can buy for less than that.

Ok, that's pretty hilarious, but good for him. $550 for a NIB 75 Compact is actually a very good deal.

For a second, I thought, Wow....ambi safety on a Compact? Then, I realized the photo was reversed. A very nice purchase.

Looks to be a used Action Arms or Magnum Research import.  Some of the depicted paperwork is "correct," but some of it is clearly for a CZ-83. 

To my knowledge, the grips and screws are not OEM.  That said, they are worth a few extra bucks for most people. 

$550 was probably a good price, especially in the greater Philadelphia metro area with three magazines.  The pistol only came with two magazines, to my knowledge.  (It either came with 1 or 2, never 3.)

Those grips and screws definitely appear to be early original CZ.
They are identical to the ones that came on my compact.
Not many came with wood grips and most of those I had seen later were made of plastic but of the same style.

If it is an AA import it would have come with only 1 mag back then.
The case looks nothing like any of the earlier CZ cases I have, mine are of MUCH cheaper quality.

Regarding the CZ-83 paperwork, goofy things happened back then.
I ended up buying a spare 13 round compact mag from a dealer that had it shipped to him in a CZ-83 box.
He had no idea what it was for since it didn't fit the CZ-83s he had.

BTW: The parts numbers on the diagrams in the owners manual pertaining to the springs have numerous errors.

Question: Is the pistol missing its front sight?
