Thanks for the report! Sounds like you had good times. I agree - AR-15 users are VERY snobbish towards anything that looks like an AK, whether it is or not.

I have the Blackhawk setup for my SA vz-58 magazines. I haven't used it...ever, but I have it. It waits with 8 vz-58 magazines and two pistol mags, for World War Z, I guess. :)

I should get a smaller one.

My Condor plate carrier from Ar-500 also holds SA vz-58 magazines, but only two in the AR pouch that came with it. Really have to stretch to get the flap over the top. I had a Blackhawk pouch for AK magazines, could NOT figure out how to use MOLLE on the thing. Gimme back my ALICE gear from the '80s... BTW, fully loaded with plates on, the Condor is about 16 pounds. Good workout for a fat old man. :)

The comment about slippery magazines is a good one - CGW, Bonesteel, you listening? Maybe some custom made add ons for mag changes like afore mentioned skaters tape?
Too bad MagPul doesn't make the mag puller for the vz-58 magazines.

Sturdy looking x6 chest rig.  There must be dividers in there between the mags.

I wish LULA made a loader for the vz58 mags. I love it for AKM 47 mags.

Someone modified the AK one I think.  Previous threads but never did a full writeup that I saw.  Just dremel a new slot for the VZ58 mag retention lip and I think some filing/fitting on the front internal edge.

Has anyone here tried this? I think for 20 bucks I will order one and see what I can do.

The Hoss. Good ideas based on empirical knowledge.

Possibly militia rank?  Don't know anything about that scene; but he's trying to put together crowdsource funding for some militia documentary... I can't see what he's wearing well enough to say for sure.

He's pretty transparent about being a retired grunt marine and doesn't appear to be trying to outfit or present himself as if having current military affiliation (gauged ear lobes certainly don't help...), so I don't see any foul here, but then I don't know all the official military rules and regs either...

Was only sharing the videos for another perspective on battle belts and chest rigs however.

And I don't think the Hoss is even remotely equivalent to Gecko45.

Similar to ArmoredMan's Blackhawk rig, the South African Chest rig works as well -- and has padded shoulder straps (about 1.5" velcros over w/ 2 mags in each pouch):

Ordered from this seller and was happy with the quality/condition (all South African gear I've had is pretty great condition overall) -- and the nutria/poo brown is the original FDE:
