Remove/Install of New Front Sight on Stingray-C
« on: July 05, 2014, 10:16:14 AM »
Well I am excited to say that my new fiber optic front sight from Cajun Gun Works should be here today (at least that's what tracking says). I decided to prep my gun so that when the new sight gets here I'll be able to just pop it in there, most likely with minor fitting. Cajun Gun Works sight comes full machined so you don't even need to drill out the bottom of the sight.

Here's the removal process:

Drifting pin out

Drifting out front sight. I removed the paint from the front sight, tape the slide generously and then gave it some good taps to get it out. Easy peasy!

No problems with my barrel bushing so I don't have to file or contend with that when installing a new sight.

Cleaned and ready to rock

I'll update the thread later when my mail comes, usually around mid afternoon.

Well I didn't get home till 7:30pm today, but was ready to tackle this front sight. Let me start by saying, to anyone interested, you will need to fit the front sight. It was a fair deal of fitting which involved the bottom of the sight, slicking up the sides (basically just removing the bluing and a minuscule amount of material, and also you will need to remove a small amount of material under the front part that extends over the slide. The stingray did not have clearance enough there so I carefully removed material there as well.

Here is the sight after being fitted and ready for placement:

It took some hard hits but it went on all the way. I was careful to not scuff the sight or my chrome finish. I used a delrin rod. I chose the red fiber optic rod since I like it more than the green. Cut the end and burned it on. Here's it installed and done:

I'll get some pictures of the gun completely together and the sight picture tomorrow or the following day. Let me know what you think.

Thank you jwc! I was nervous when I actually got the sight out of the package and compared it to the stock Canik 55 sight. I cannot emphasize enough that no one should buy a CZ 75 sight and expect it to work without fitment in their Stingray-C. Take your time, be patient, remove small amounts at a time, and get it done hahaha. If I wasn't so engrossed in getting the sight to fit I would have take many more pics but I was in the zone.
