Omega Trigger

I am thinking about picking up a "Duty" series pistol. What are you thoughts on the Omega Trigger v CZ 75 and other polymer pistols?

I would recommend a P-09 or a 2014 P-07 as far as CZ's Omega triggers.

If I understand your question, I would say the Omega is a better trigger out of the box vs most of the CZ 75 steel frames.  As far as other polymer pistols, I like my P-09 better than my Glock trigger and M&P trigger.

I've heard mixed opinions on the omega trigger. I think Stuart once told me that sometimes an out of the box p09 has a great trigger, then the next one really needs improvement.

I've never fired a Omega trigger although.

My plastic pistol evolution started with Glock, went to XDM, then to M&P and now to CZ.

The CZ P07 I bought (maybe others are different) has a better trigger than any of the others I own.  Way better.

I have an M&P that sometimes fails to fire the round in the chamber (been trying to figure that one out for months) and that causes me to have to either eject that round and fire the next, or just move the slide enough to cock the striker and then pull the trigger again.  The round will usually go off on the second trigger pull.  With the CZ, if it every did that, I could just pull the trigger again (double action).  So far though, the CZ hasn't had any failures to fire.

Its been suggested to me that the issue with the M&P is primers (too hard - Tula SP), or that I had not seated the primers enough (tried a couple boxes of my reloads side by side with one of my M&Ps and one of my XDMs and the XDM had no problems with the same reloads).  When I got the CZ P07 one of the tests I did was to load up 20 rounds of .40 S&W with Tula small rifle primers (even harder than Tula small pistol primers) and every round went bang, even with the much harder (thicker cup metal) primers.

At this point, I'm sold on my new CZ P07 and looking to get a P09 (expected to get one at the gun show this weekend and not a single CZ dealer showed up - only saw 3 9MM P07s and a couple of CZ 75's).

Another advantage (as I see it) with the P07/P09 is the availability of the aftermarket parts and even factory parts.  As you read threads here on this forum you'll see people have their preferences for who they get parts from or have work done by but getting the parts and getting work done on the pistol (if you go that route) seems to be pretty straight forward.

Good luck with yours.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I have both the P-07 & P-09 and a few in the 75 series, but I change out the springs, hammers, etc. with CGW's aftermarket parts and all my triggers are great and light.

I have owned a CZ P-07 Duty 9mm  for a couple years now and love it. Real good trigger and the bullets hit where you point the gun.

I own a 2013 model P-09 and briefly owned a 2014 model P-07.  Both had the same Omega trigger, and I'd call them "fair".  I don't own the P-07 anymore, but it had the exact same trigger (and trigger feel) as the P-09, so I'll refer to it but my comments apply to both.  The DA pull is decent.  There's some staging to it, but it's pretty smooth.  The SA pull is also okay.  It's certainly light enough, but there's a lot of take-up and it's pretty mushy in my opinion.  I guess it does give you a surprise break that some like, but there's a good bit of travel to the SA pull before it breaks.  I personally don't care for that too much.  That's obviously on the stock trigger...upgrades are certainly available.  But out of the box...I call it "okay".  I'd personally like for more of a "wall" to build before the break.  Trigger pull "walls" don't have to be stout.  1911s often have fairly light triggers, but the there's a definite "wall" and a very short pull...but they're obviously SA only.

I sold our P-07 to buy an M&P Shield, and to me, that Shield has a wonderful trigger.  It's widely regarded to have an excellent trigger, and Smith is actually replacing the triggers in the rest of the M&P line with the Shield's improved trigger system.  It has a little bit of free take-up, but then the "wall" very quickly builds, and it's a very crisp break.  Some call it a "glass rod" break.  I mean, it's crisp.  It's a pretty decent pull (I think it's rated at 6.5 pounds), but it's a short and very sure stroke.

I know that you certainly can't compare internals of these guns (DA/SA vs. striker-fired), but in terms of triggers and how the Omega compares to its broader market competition, I call it "okay".  But that's just my limited experience...and the shortcomings I listed may simply be part of how DA/SA systems operate.  I don't think the Omega is a certain stand-out compared with broader market competition, but it may be one of the better ones when compared against DA/SA pistols.

I will add that if you like a good trigger reset, the Omega system has that.  It's not a particularly short reset, but it is positive...you can hear and feel it.  You can buy upgrade parts that shorten the reset.
