I installed/fitted the trigger on my 40P tonight.  It doesn't fit directly when straightened.  It will hit the bottom of the trigger guard before the trigger will drop the hammer.  So I ground off the end of the trigger to allow it to function.  I may have taken off too much, but if you go slow and remove small amounts at a time, you can get it to stop right at the trigger break.  This would eliminate the need for the over travel set screw.

I don't know how I feel about the shorter trigger but I will take it to the range and test it out.

Given that you would have to refinish the trigger once you get it to fit and function on the frame I don't know if this mod is worth it.  You can get a 85C trigger for ~$40.  I guess if you want the polished look and strip off the trigger finish and leave it raw.

More to come...

Cheers,
Toby

Who cares about the cost/benefit?  I know I've spent a lot of time on various projects where I could have bought a new part for much less than the value of my time.

We'll see how it feels.  You have to grind off quite a bit to get the trigger to function once straightened.  I will try to post up a picture of the before and after to see how short you have to make it.

Given those irreversible uncertainties, I thought it was prudent to post up so others don't go modifying theirs without knowing it won't work with marring the finish.  If you are particular about the trigger finish, you will have an added cost of refinishing.

Cheers,
Toby

So I had the 40P with the shorter/straighter recurve trigger out at the range yesterday.  I don't like the shorter trigger, there is a gap along the bottom between the trigger guard and the trigger that allows  your finger to get pinched easier.  I think that I will resort back to the recurve or get the original 85C trigger for this gun.  I really like the feel of the original 85C trigger and will probably work toward upgrading all my triggers.

Cheers,
Toby

I have the original 85 trigger on my 75 Shadow and really like it better than the two others I've used.
May be a dumb thought,  but I wondered if a very small bend at the tip of that modded trigger (instead of shortening it) would be possible to prevent the pinch?

I also like the original 85c trigger more than the recurve or new 85c.
