Interesting little article on ALL OUTDOORS
« on: July 08, 2014, 08:34:20 PM »
It talks about the use of One Hand ONLY
and shows the SP-01, but they refer to it as the P-01.......their oops

I was interested in this piece, because of the injury to my Left Hand has left it almost impossible for me to rack the Slide on (most, but not all of) my Pistols
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Interesting. With my SP01 in DA, I'm more accurate and stable using just the pad of my trigger finger than if using the crease/knuckle, even while shooting one handed.

Shooting one-handed out of half-cock or cocked and locked is easier for those of us with a short trigger finger.  My stronghand TF reach is shorter than the lady's depicted TF.  I still do OK stronghand only in DA.   **This is another area where light springs are a big benefit!**

Den,  those light springs can also benefit jacking the slide.  A strong well-mounted rear sight also is an alternative using a hard surface, pant legs, belt  or pocket opening.

Drop free mags are easy to get OUT one handed,  but  problematic & clumsy to get a fresh one back in.  It would likely need to be done before running dry at a critical time.

Hey 1:
Not real thrilled about using my Pant Leg or Belt to clear a Chambered Round
I'll learn to work thru it in time
Joe (75Plus) gave me the idea of using a piece of Heater Hose that the Barrel fit into, to push the Slide back while pushing against the Bench or ? ? ?
Or, in time, I'll regain enough strength and not have to worry about it at all

My primary references were in answer to the SD video:  "on the fly".  As far as making & carrying a device,  Joe's idea sounds good.
There's an old video around somewhere,  that shows a guy jacking the slide by pulling the pistol back and snapping his hand forward.  Won't work with this old guy,  light springs or not..---seems like it was a Glock,  but I'm not sure. ::)

I was shooting a steel match last summer with a fella that had a stroke several years back and lost 90% usage of his right arm and he was right handed. He mounted the slide pull on the right side of the slide, like guns in open class use, and he keeps a nylon necklace with a 1" diameter round ring around his neck. He puts the gun on the table, slides in the mag, taps the mag on the table, and uses the necklace with the ring to rack the slide, de-cocks, holsters and is ready. Every action has the barrel pointing down range.
He said "a little stroke was note going to keep me away from the range". I was very impressed!

Yes, that was an extremely lightly sprung Glock... fairly pointless from a practical standpoint - more just for effect... whip it... whip it good LOL

I'm reminded of the Ton Cruise movie Valkyrie where he racks the slide on the edge of a table
CZ 75 SP01 Shadow, strong enough for a man, but she likes it too!

No.  It was a stock sprung G35.  The guy doing it was USPSA Grandmaster Rob Romero.  The fact that it is striker fired makes it easier to cock than a hammer sprung gun.

Hmm, that doesn't sound like the vid I saw (I think what I saw was someone imitating that, poorly) but hey... if anyone could do it a Grandmaster could. Unless he was Grandmaster Flash, perhaps :)

Here's the original video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xfYtZOz81c

And here's the main thread about the reload.  Check out the video on page 5 where he does it sequentially through 5 different Glocks and a M&P.  http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=92119

It's a pretty interesting read.  I first tried it on my stock .40 75B back in '09 and bleep near threw my shoulder out of socket!
