I bought a few of the "keep shooting" variety.  All worked when new, but half the lot is on my workbench after a few trips to the range...yielding failures to feed on the last two rounds in the mags.  I'm betting on a weak spring in the mags, but we'll see.

I have two...they work fine but just don't drop freely. They are getting better with more use though.

You can certainly count on these 10 round http://shop.cz-usa.com/ProductDetail/11301_Mag-Cz-83-380-10rd or these 12 round http://shop.cz-usa.com/ProductDetail/11302_Mag-Cz-83-380-12-Rd CZ82/83 magazines.

As so often is true, you get what you pay for.

I have also been successful in diligently searching GunBroker.com for surplus factory CZ82 magazines http://www.gunbroker.com/All/BI.aspx?Keywords=cz82++cz+82+.  If you find any that fit your budget, be ready to buy - they are getting more and more scarce, but they still come up now and then.  I found two pairs of CZ magazines with the 'crossed swords' just this summer.  It looks like all those listed today are probably the "Mfg CZ" type that may or may not work well in your pistol.

When searching for good factory CZ magazines at a reasonable price, I keep in mind a line from the I-Ching:  "Perseverance furthers".

Hard for me to say at this point what works well other than the originals...I'm still in the "try it and see" stage.  Been through lots of junk.

I think I'll be trying out some of il.bill's suggestions.

On the CZ-USA webstore pages, they state the 10 round will interchange with the CZ82. That is not stated on the page for the 12 round magazine. Anyone have first hand experience with yes or no? If I buy more magazines, I'd like to know that the CZ82 and CZ83 can share, even if the ammo is different.

The CZ83 chambered in .380 ACP (aka: 9x17mm or Browning Court / Browning Kurz) uses the exact same magazine as the CZ82 chambered in 9x18mm Makarov.

They are not merely interchangeable, they are literally the same magazines.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Too bad there isn't enough of a market to convince Mec-Gar to offer CZ82/CZ83 magazines. Their CZ75 magazines are about half of the price of the CZ branded ones.

I bought two from J&G and they came yesterday.  The mag release will not seat properly with the mag inserted and the mags will not release from the mag well.  I have no idea concerning firing function.  No way these are factory and I am contacting J&G.  I may cut my losses and send them back.  >:(

I have one factory mag and I bought two from J&G sales that were junk. Then I bought 2 from keeponshooting.com. Those jam up the last 2 rounds so I started to look at measure some dimensions. When loading the keeponshooting mags the first and second rounds are pointing up quite a bit but the third round on seems to sit pretty straight. Looking at the follower it looked fatter than the CZ mag follower so upon measuring both, the CZ follower was .025 smaller in most places I could compare. I put the CZ guts in the keeponshooting shell and it worked just fine. So now I'd like to find a source for the mag followers. I don't find them listed on CZ-USA, MecGar or anywhere. Any ideas?

So a good bet for a reliable mag would be the cz store?  Don't mess with others unless they for sure are surplus and say nothing on the floor plate?

I finally took the one I ordered from J&G out to the range today.  I ran some black bear and some hornady hollow points through it and it worked just fine.  My only complaint was that it was a little difficult to remove the empty mag to reload.  Other than that, it worked fine.

I got 3 for that price from http://www.keepshooting.com. Did not get them
in the mail yet. I don't think they were advertised as original magazines.
I bought 3 of those and they worked just fine in my "83" as I under stood it they were made by  their own people

I bought 5, 4 of them give nose-up jams and will need the lips adjusted. I don't find that a problem compared to the price of the OEMs.

Also, most of them did not drop/insert freely and needed tweaking with a plastic mallet (small) to fit well. The steel is thin and low quality and I would not use for carry purposes as any bump or pressure could distort them causing failures. I got mine for plinking, and if they work better after adjustments, I'm fine with that.

You do get what you pay for most times. Wish these were OEM surplus though, THAT would be a bargain!

After what I spent for one CZ83 factory mag two weeks ago if they work that is heck of a deal. CZ83 mags are not the easiest to find.
