When I bought my current Stingray-C, there was a blemish in the finish on the side of the frame.  Everything else on gun was great, though, and I didn't want to deal with returns, so I told myself this was fine.  Then I converted the gun to be non-ambidextrous, because I'm right handed, and the ambi-controls made it a very thick gun.  During one of the many, many takedowns for parts-fitting, I ended up dinging and scratching the gun a few times.  These two combined made me decide idiotically to try to refinish the gun myself.  It's now been resprayed about 5 times now, with everything from engine enamel to Alumahyde II, whatever I could get my hands on cheaply that I thought might stick.  Needless to say, none of them worked out, and after doing some sanding to bare metal to remove some of the tool marks I left in it, and scraping to remove some of the stubborn bits of old finishes, I now have a very, very, very ugly gun, that is ridiculously fun to shoot because it's loaded with CGW parts.

tl;dr: My gun is ugly. It's my fault.

That being said, I'm hoping to send it off to get it refinished soon, and I'm looking for color ideas.

At the moment, the top 3 contenders are:

Burnt Bronze - It looks so cool on so many other things, but I cannot find a well-lit picture of it on a CZ?  I don't want this gun to look 'Tacticool', but in the pictures I can find, I can't tell if it would look that way or not.

Satin Aluminum - I don't have a picture of it on a CZ, but:

While I think this is probably my safest bet, and that it would look very, very nice, I'm hesitant to send it away and pay $$$$ that I can't really spare, just to have a gun that looks exactly like the factory chrome one.

Tungsten

Somewhat understated, but not as plain as black.  Not as flashy or unique as burnt bronze, though.

I'm open to suggestions!  I'm not really a huge fan of two-tone, and I'm opposed to straight black because of what I said under Satin Aluminum.

Hopefully once I get my gun un-uglified, I'll be able to post more pictures here for you guys..

this is on cerakote gun coatings website.. dedicated Gallery to CZs.

My personal favorite, is this one.

I'm going to get it on my next SP01 that will be a strict range only (no holster=no holster wear)

I went through there; that's where I found the Tungsten SP-01 above that I liked. :) The camo is awesome, but not what I'm looking for on this particular gun.

I've been through your site a couple of times, too. :)  That's where I pulled the Satin Aluminum Beretta from, actually.  I think I've gone through them all, and didn't see anything, but I may have missed it - Have you done any pistols with Tungsten?  Or maybe a combination of Tungsten with Satin Aluminum small parts? I really like what you did with this 1911 in Sniper Grey and what looks like Satin Aluminum:

But I'm afraid the two-tone won't translate as well to the Stingray as nicely as it looks on the 1911.

I did find this CZ with Stainless and Sniper Grey:

http://eastonfirearmsrefinishing.com/Gallery.php?section=gallery&firearm=167
But the sniper grey looks very 'blue' here, and not as nice as it did on the 1911.

Decisions, decisions.  I think I'm currently leaning more towards the Tungsten, but want it to stand out a bit more than the tungsten/black SP-01.

I realize that I'm rambling, and apologize for doing so!  But I will likely end up taking a lot of photos of the gun when it's finished, and want to get it 'right'.  :)

Ohhh maybe Satin Aluminum, or Satin Mag to emulate the matte stainless CZ75?

I like how that looks a lot.

Got any pictures of it? :) What color decocker/slide release and whatnot - black?

If I had to choose right this moment, I'd go with the tungsten, I think at this point I just need to decide if I do something crazy with the color of the controls, or keep it simple and go black.

Then I have to get paid for the upper receiver I'm selling that's about to end on GB, then it's off to EFR!

I have an errand to run but when I get back I'll take a few for you...

I added some black VZ Tactical Diamond grips and left the controls the stock black color. Most of the cerakote jobs I end up liking less have done something crazy with the color of the controls... but that is just my preference. I did like the pics floating around of the Burnt Bronze 75 Compact with hyena frag grips... I may have one done up that way if I need another gun refinished.

Pics up for you in just a bit :)

Pics of mine... please disregard the cat hair :-/

One thing I really like about this finish is that it does not appear to me to be trying to masquerade as some kind of nickel/stainless.

Thanks for tracking down those pictures!  It definitely looks great, and, but is a bit of a different look from what I think I'm going for with this gun.  You helped me rule out Burnt Bronze for this project. :)

I feel your pain.  ;D It's bad enough that I have to clean cat hair up in between every shot, and still edit some hair out in post, but occasionally I get a whole cat that will photobomb!...

Few weeks later he interrupted the shooting of this set:

So I just gave him his own glamour shoot...

 >:( ;D

Anyway, I digress.  That's a great point about not trying to be nickel or stainless while not actually being nickel or stainless.  And your gun looks awesome!! Thanks for posting up those pics - I'm sold on the Tungsten/black combo.  Now I've just got to get paid. I'm excited!!   O0

Some sweet lookin' pistols in this thread but if it were mine getting coated it would be this one.

There are several close second choices though...
