New to the forum! need help with a certain firearm!
« on: August 18, 2014, 05:11:54 AM »
hey guys and girls, saying hi from across the pond.
So ive had a CZ brno mod 2 22lr in the family for 2 generations now, shes been used alot!! cant say how many rounds but, its alot!
Im unsure whether you guys even have the Brno models over in the states, but the CZ452 is pretty much the same thing, just made differently, and used different materials i guess.
so lately shes been hanging up on the fired rounds, as if the bolt will not extract the fired round, maybe even the fired round expanded in the chamber, also its not picking up the next round to go into the chamber, ie; the cartridge is aiming above the chamber port.
cheers!

First off Welcome to the Forum

I am not personally familiar with Brno's or am i a gunsmith but it sounds like you should closely look at you extractor claws. I had a similar issue with a used 452 I purchased.  All worked well after I changed the claws.
Hope this helps.  ;)

Welcome to the forum!  I really like Brnos, but mostly their autos and shotguns.

I have no experience with the Mod 2 either, but after a lot of shooting with the CZ's, gunk can build up under the extractor too, not sure if you've thoroughly disassembled the bolt and scrubbed it out well.

Also, lots of folks with the Mod 2 over on Rimfire Central in the CZ/Brno subforum, check out that group too.

Here's a good spot to look...

There are a few BRNOs over here and they are very similar to the CZ 452s which are essentially newer versions of the same basic design.  I would suggest following the advice above but also give the chamber a thorough scrubbing, paying extra attention to the throat and leades.  All those .22 rounds have probably deposited a lot of lead and junk over the years that is interfering with loading and extraction.  If after all that cleaning of the bolt and chamber you're still having trouble, it may be time to look at some fresh parts (springs do lose tension with time and use).

If you happen to need any parts for your #2, Denny (aka Brnomann) is the one to turn to.

dirty bolt, dirty extractor spring, broken extractor spring. dirty and crude in the chamber. Take the bolt out and clean the chamber with a bronze brush. Might want to take to competent gunsmith and have the rifle checked out and cleaned up.
