My new PO-1 broke right outta the box!!

Picked up my new PO-1 yesterday after the 10 day wait....took it home and field stripped it, cleaned all nice...as I was giving a final wipe down...one of the rubber grips came off in my hand!  The grip screw snapped and I did not touch it, did not remove the grips for cleaning and did not tighten the screws.  My guess is...whoever installed it cross threaded the screw, didn't get it tight and movement in handling snapped the screw.  Half of the screw is still in the frame.  So, I take it back to the dealer.....oh we'll take care of it!!  Send it back to the factory.  What? Why not have the gunsmith drill out the screw, retap and use new screws?  They will check on that....I'm betting it gets sent back to somewhere.....which means WEEKS waiting and I am not a happy shooter!!! >:(

Those screws are very sensitive, so I'm not surprised. The thing is, it's not the dealers fault, which is why they said to send it back. You could ask the gunsmith there to drill it out and retap it, but then you will probably have to pay for the work to be done.

I feel for you Barry.  Definitely a bummer. 

Being a new gun, I would have CZ-USA fix it for you.

UPDATE: Dealer tried drilling the screw, stopped.  Thinks it's case hardened.  If they send it back for repairs....3 weeks! so they just ordered me a new one!  It will be in tomorrow but of course I have to wait another 10 days...grrrrr.

Well all crappiness aside, at least 10 days is better than 21. Glad it's getting handled for you though.

Sounds like someone in Uhersky Brod needs to identify the "grip screw installer" on the assembly line and give him some remedial training!

sure is a real joke!! Gun store said looks like that may go away here in Kaliforny in cases like this.

UPDATE: Finally got the new replacement PO-1 and took it to the range today!  Fantastic gun.  I actually shot it better than I did my 75BD.  Not sure if it was the minor trigger finger adjustment or the gun.  Ran 270 rounds through it, mostly 124 grain reloads from the range store.  Not a single issue.  So far I see no reason to change anything on this gun.  The first 10 round magazine put about half the shots through the same hole or very close......surprised myself! This is my first attempt at posting a photo....my small arsenal.  75BD, PO-1, Ruger GP100, Colt Frontier Scout.
