P-0whatisit?
« on: September 09, 2014, 10:27:02 PM »
At the local Cablea's today, and I seen a variation I hadn't seen before.

They called it a CZ 75 Compact in .40, but it was more like a P-01 with a safety.  It had the lower with rail, but with a safety like the P-02 but it wasn't an Omega.  It looks like an aluminum lower, as it has the ridge, but the gun felt heavier than my P-01.

He'd go $400 on it.  Have you guys seen one before?  If anyone is interested, it's at the East Grand Forks MN Cabelas.

I didn't get a very good pic but you can kind of see

Someone on here was looking for one of those the other day.  They don't make that model anymore.

It's a steel frame.  It's actually heavier than the full size 75B in .40.  All the extra weight is at the muzzle end, which makes this gun handle the "snappiness" of the .40 quite well.  It also has the upswept beavertail, which makes it more comfortable for long shooting sessions, as well.  It uses 10 round magazines (P06 mags will work) or 12 round full size .40 magazines will work with a spacer.

At $430, I'd buy it.  My sister bought one for $375 about 5 years ago, and I wish I would have bought it instead.

If you DO buy it, you will most likely want to install an extra power extractor spring.  Weak extraction is why 90% of these get traded in.

Someone needs to buy it and put a 9mm top on it.

I bought my Sister a 9mm conversion barrel for hers back when EFK Firedragon made conversion barrels for CZ's.  Even with the smaller size breechface, we have never had any issues with the .40 extractor and 9mm brass.  EFK Firedragon, Barsto, and another company that I can't think of used to make conversion barrels.  KKM was going to, but got side tracked post Sandy Hook.

It seemed like it had some play between the frame and the slide at the front.  I checked my P-01 when I got home and it was tight.  Not a wiggle.  That didn't seem quite right.

This would tempt me more except I bought a P-07 ported upper in .40, and have a P-07 in 9mm on backorder.
