Considering new P01 SDP
« on: September 14, 2014, 12:49:09 PM »
Stopped at LGS and was surprised that they had a P01 SDP.

I have never owned a CZ and first time I handled one from CZ custom.  Felt really good in my hand.
Price was $1250 which seemed reasonable for that model.

Currently have a Glock 19 that I use for home defense, some CCW, and IDPA.
I have some questions since I am not familiar with CZ.

Are there any known issues with the P01 SDP?   My G19 has been very reliable, so I am hoping the CZ is the same.

Is the accuracy and long term durability of the aluminum frame p01 similar to the all steel fullsize CZ75?

Is there any chance the decocker could fail and cause round to go off when hammer drops?

I am looking to use this as my do all gun. CCW, home defense and IDPA SSP.  Would this be a good fit?

For those that have owned this gun, are you satisfied overall?

New guy here. I just got my P01 SDP a few weeks back from CZC, my first CZ pistol, & I love it so far with about 200 rounds down range.  It's more accurate than I am at this point, & has functioned flawlessly using mostly UMC 115g FMJ and one mag of some pricey SD rounds. It's a sweet piece & the trigger is crisp. I've had zero problems with the decocker function, it does exactly what it's supposed to do. I plan on using it for USDPA next year, & maybe 3 gun too. That said, I have my eyes on an Accu-Shadow for competition, & I also have PCR Pro-Tek 1 on order that will be my carry & HD pistol. It has two extra mods added: old style CZ 85 Combat trigger, & the Heinie straight 8 rear sight. I liked both of these on the SDP enough to have them added to the Pro-Tek. The Pro-Tek should be done in a few weeks.
Hope this helps, & if you have any more questions I'll do my best to answer them.

The P-01 (in stock form) has a NATO stock number, so it has been tested heavily, and that's a selling point for several members on this forum.

Accuracy is great.

When dealing with any pistol, any part can fail at any given time.  I haven't seen that happen on the forum so far.  Yankee Marshal on YouTube has a smart approach (for once) for this situation.

Your SDP will match or surpass your Glock

Is the accuracy and long term durability of the aluminum frame p01 similar to the all steel fullsize CZ75?
Yes

Is there any chance the decocker could fail and cause round to go off when hammer drops?
No.  In the extremely remote chance that the decocker would fail and let the hammer fall all the way, the firing pin block will prevent an accidental discharge as it will stop the firing pin from moving unless the trigger is pressed.  Just like a Glock

Yes
