Dry fire CZ 75
« on: September 29, 2014, 07:19:46 PM »
I just bought my first CZ 75 a stainless 9mm. It appears unfired. I did not get a manual with it, is it ok to dry the pistol.  Thanks I have 2 rimfire rifles and appreciate the old world quality that goes in CZ weapons.

Welcome to the forum wgg.
Is that a Pre-B Stainless,  Or what model is it?

If it's a "B" and/or has a firing pin safety,  it's best to use a snap cap or an "O"-Ring under the hammer to avoid damaging the pin that holds the Firing Pin in the slide.

We like pictures! ;)

Thank you it is a CZ 75B model. Is there a way I can tell what year it was made. I can't do photos at this time. The pistol has not been fired since being test fired.

The date will be on the slide just left of the extractor. Or if no date there, the date will be on the slide right in front of the serial number. this is an 09. Just left of extractor.
this is 2012. Right in front of serial number on slide.

A foam earplug in back of the fp (so the hammer hits it) works good too.

If it is new in the box, check under the foam for the manual and test target.

I dry fire the living crap out of my 75 BD (like 75-100 times a day four or five days a week) and I use a 1/2" OD o ring squeezed over the firing pin the in the hammer recess at the back of the slide.

It guarantees that the firing pin will barely be touched by the hammer and I can do target drills till my hands cramp without worrying that my firing pin will break.

Could you guys put some pictures showing how the o-ring was put? :). I watched some video about snap-caps, saying it can generate shards and scratches inside the gun, bad to the gun. So I think the o-ring is a good idea. Could you guys please teach this in some more detail.
Thanks a lot.

THANK YOU! :) I see, so when the hammer down, firepin will not be hit, that's way better firepin protection than a snap-cap.

AND a lot cheaper and easier.

The snap caps work well for reloading, flinch detection and clearing drills
