I thought it was pretty funny at the time. It surprised me a little but I knew immediately what it was. It was almost comforting but I think maybe I'd better start wearing a shooting hat with it.

I got the Apex buttpad in today and managed to shave it down on one side to enable the stock to close properly.

I pretty much shaved it flush on this side. It could still use a little smoothing.

It closes and opens just as it did without the pad.

I haven't had a chance to use it yet but the added length is welcome and it looks pretty good to me.

Looks very good gwvt. Mine actually needs smoothing out a little (lot), but closes fine. All I am concerned about. Function, then comes looks.

Absolutely. Of course, I feel like when I make or modify something, it's nice when it doesn't look like I was drunk when I did it.

Sarge, I'll bet! I've never had that happen but I did have one land in a shirt pocket once.

I finally got a chance to try it out with the buttpad and the little bit of extra length does help. I also like the added length to the 'toe' of the butt. It does seem to reduce the felt recoil somewhat but the main thing I notice for me is that it's easier for me to more consistently find the right spot to rest it in my shoulder pocket.

Good to hear. I know that felt recoil isn't excessive with the VZ, but a 30$ muzzlebreak makes a huge difference also.

Yeah, I think the Phantom FH did more than the butt pad for felt recoil.

I was joking when I said it but I thought about this today when an ejected casing bounced dead center off the crown of my head! I definitely need a hat with this thing!
