My newest toy....With a couple of questions.
« on: October 23, 2006, 08:45:08 AM »
I just bought an sp01 a couple weeks ago and absolutely love it.  It is very accurate and virtually no recoil.

I bought the one with the ambi safety on it NIB, and it has tritium night sites on the rear site, and just a glow in the dark site on the front.  Is that normal, or did they mess up?

Also, I hear that CZ have some issues with certain types of ammo...What would be a good home defense round to buy?

Thanks in advance guys.

Is it labeled "Tactical?"

The sight setup sounds odd, but I'm no expert. My tactical has all three Meprolights, which, I think, is the way it's supposed to be.

As far as home defense ammo, I like the Speer Gold Dot 124g +P. I chose them based on all the traffic on AR15.com about such things, and they work fine in all my CZs.

Good shooting!

No, its not the tactical, it doesn't have the decocker, its got the ambi-safety...Since this gun will mainly be used for its excellent accuracy at the range, and now probably my new home defense pistol due to its lack of recoil, I decided on the "non-tactical" ambi safety.

Thanks for the info on Defense ammo though...

Oh yeah, if i send it back to CZ, will they replace the front site with mepro?  Or will they think I replaced it and tell me to shove off?

My non-tactical came with both front and rear tritium sights so perhaps you should call or email CZ and inquire as to why your front sight is different.

For target practice I use the generic Winchester White Box and have never had a problem.   When I purchased some of the CCI Blazer aluminum that was on sale it almost always jams in a variety of ways.   Copper cases never seem to jam.  My theory is that the tolerance is tight enough to require a slicker metal such as copper as opposed to aluminum.

For home defense I also use the Speer Gold Dot 124g +P.   I always keep a one magazine loaded with that and in the CZ while I am in the house and use the other magazines for other ammo during range practice.

My non tactical SP-01 has night sights on it also. I just got it a month ago.
