Pre-B CZ75*FOUND* Gun and RANGE PIC
« on: November 10, 2014, 09:04:53 PM »
I have been looking around for quite a while trying to find a decent unaltered Pre-B CZ75. I found this one today. The guy says that it functions with no problems, however there are some cosmetic issues as you can see from the pics. Also the left grip is chipped at the top. It comes with 2 factory mags and original box. He is asking $450 OBO. I was going to re-grip anyway, but I have no knowledge of blueing or coatings. I guess I just need to know what to offer for one in this condition. Or if anyone sees something that raises a red flag please let me know. The link is to the pics in my flickr album.
Thanks, Joe
I found one for $309 on gunbroker with thanks to forum member Bret. The park job is ok, will probably send it to EFR for cerakote job.
Scroll down for gun and range pic.

My post would be about the 75 I just bought for $450  ;D  looks like a fair price for the condition.

I have been looking for a pre B locally, the price of $450.00 is good. I have seen them in the condition from your pictures for $550.00 without a box.

Joe, I think the price is fair.  Whether it's the right gun for you depends on what you're planning on doing with it.  If you're looking for a Pre-B CZ75 to completely refinish, then one from CDI Sales on GunBroker might be a better option.

Just make sure that you don't get one that has any pitting.  If you're looking for one to be a show piece, then that's not it.  If you're looking for one in decent condition that's a shooter, then $450 for that one is a fair price, but one from CDI Sales might still be a better option.  BTW, the PW Arms import marking on the slide indicates that it's a recent import, not one that was imported to the US new.  Odds are that it was imported from Israel just like the ones that CDI Sales is selling.  It just wasn't refinished.

Thanks to everyone for the info, it is greatly appreciated. I went with Bret's suggestion on gunbroker. I got the parked one with no pitting for $310.
Not a huge fan of the park finish, but price wise I felt it was a good jumping off point for my first CZ75. Can the park be removed and replaced with something else? I may just put different grips on it an keep it as is. Thanks again, Joe

Keep the finish it is durable.  Good price on the gun.  If you run into mag problems you can Dremel out the mag well area so new CZ mags will work in the gun.  CZ changed the dimensions of the mag over the Pre B time.  My 85 Combat from 1988 was a Pre B and required some dental work in order for the mags to fit.  Once done the gun accepted the new mags without a whimper.

Picked up the pre-B CZ75 at my range. They have an 01 FFL and do transfers for members. I was amazed at how well it shot, literally straight out of the box.
The trigger is nice, functions pretty good. I had an issue with the slide locking back with one round still in the mag. It did this 2 times. Everything was great until I got to the last round. Any thoughts? Could it be a weak mag spring?
I could not believe the ergonomic feel and accuracy. It puts my S&W M&P 9mm to shame, especially the trigger. I like a metal trigger. The M&P with it's plastic/polymer trigger and grainy pull is going on the selling block. This is a pic of my first ten or so shots at 12 yards.

Take the slide off and insert a magazine loaded with two cartridges up in the frame.  It might be that the bullet it touching the slide stop.  If so, you can modify the slide stop to prevent this.  Otherwise, it could be a weak slide stop spring.  Also, keep in mind that the magazine sent with the pistol may not be the one that was actually with the gun when it was manufactured.  Of the two that I purchased from CDI sales, the magazine that came with one simply won't work.  I'm going to have to buy some Pre-B magazines for it.

Bret if you take a look in the magwell and see where the new mags are rubbing you should be able to take a dremel out and open up the interior of the magwelll.  I did that with my Pre B I had and go the new mags working fine.  CZ changed the interior dimensions of the magwell overtime which caused the problem.

That's where I got my 75b from for 309, then had cerakoted by EFR.

Looks like they did a great job on your pistol, Rich. My take down/slide stop lever has pitting, it may have to be replaced before cerakote.
Bret, I checked it out like you said. The round is not hitting the slide stop. I'll keep working with it. I took it back to the range today and it only did it once.
Canuck44, the mag does rub a little but not much. Do you think the mag may be getting squeezed and that is causing the issue? I may just replace all the critical springs. Front sight has a major dent and it makes for a weird sight picture. The gun must have been dropped on it, some time in the past. Does the front sight just tap out? If so, which direction? It does not have a pin that I can tell. Also I'm enclosing a link to a pic of the gun on flickr. Does anyone have info on the lanyard stud at the bottom of the grip? I have not seen one of these. Thanks, Joe

Call me weird, but parkerizing has to be my favorite finish. Just love the way it looks, and how that finish just seems to soak up oil. I've found that park'd guns that I've owned show wear less quickly than blued ones.
