New to CZ! CZ75 SP-01
« on: November 14, 2014, 08:06:16 PM »
Hi! I just discovered CZ's and love them! Recently went to the range and tried a CZ75 and fell in love with this pistol. Started researching and my new conquest it to find a CZ75 SP-01 (California Style!). Yes... I'm from California and I can't find one.  :o

Was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on CZ's production releases for this pistol in CA? I placed an order for a new one almost two months ago and it hasn't come in. None of the shops can give me any Guess when a new production shipment will go out.

Any suggestions on how I can find out their turn times? It goes off roster / Ca registration on 1/31/2015.

Looking forward to learning more about CZ!

Thanks!

I'm not on the bottom of the seniority roster here anymore !!!   8) (joined just before you haha)

I'm in Cali too (SB Cty).... it sucks so much !!!    >:(

Check Buds Guns.... then find an FFL near you that will accept and do the Xfer for you. I've been hounding my buddy to hurry up and order his Rami... I think those fall off roster mid 2015...

Good luck and hurry up finding your SP-01 !!!

Welcome to the forums.

I also reside in CA.

Kentucky Gun Co has what your looking for. You should be able to have this pistol shipped to a local FFL. If you like they might be able to swap the mags for CA 10 round mags, you will have to ask them.
http://www.kygunco.com/cz-75-sp-01-9mm-pistol-47-barrel-18-round-black-polycoat-43711

If they will not swap mags some FFL's will still DROS it for you without SSE. This is the way i went because at the time the only SP-01's available came with 18 round mags. The FFL will need to have a High Capacity Magazine Permit so they can receive the pistol and block the mags for you. If it ends up shipping with the 18 round mags, make sure you discuss the situation with your FFL.

This, as well as most of the CZ models on the CA roster will likely be renewed next year.

Welcome to the forum from South Carolina.  CZ is  great pistol and is habit forming.  I have Cajunized most of my dropping both the double action and single action pull.  You will enjoy your CZ.

Thank you all for your greetings! Great suggestions! Super excited to get my pistol. But.... I've been reading other posts and now I am completely confused if I should buy this or not. I'm wanting or considering competing in IDPA or other sanctioned competitions ( don't know them all yet) and I'm reading that the SP-01 standard may not be eligible? Any thoughts? If it is not eligible, should I still get it? It will be my first pistol. I'm renting others from my local range right now but it's time to get my first!

Camo_man,

They have them now at Damascus Gun Shop.  Just DROS'ed mine today and it looks awesome.  Their quoted prices include S&H and they don't charge a credit card fee.   They have 10-round mags available and they just swap the hi-cap in the mags.

Good luck!

I ordered my CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical from Hinterland Outfitters (best price I could find) Rec'd it yesterday after just 5 days.  They will work with you to make it state compliant.

Just checked the website and they are our of stock already.

But, may be another source to try

Are SP-01's allowed to be brought into California? I thought they were not on the roster?

Yes > CZ 75 SP-01 (w. Safety), 9mm
CA Roster listing: CZ 75 SP-01 01152 / Steel, Poly    Pistol, 4.7" , 9mm ,1/31/2015 (Will likely be renewed for another year.)

No > CZ 75 Sp-01 Tactical 9mm (w. Decocker)
But can be obtained trough SSE (CA Single Shot Exception) until the end of the year.

Here is some info on SSE. if your interested in the above pistol read it.

Thanks again for sharing about SSE. Learning so much!!!! Wish I knew about this a long time ago. OK. So If I want to go the SP-01 Tactical route, anyone know where to find one?

The SP01 Tactical 9mm is still certified for sale in California through 5/9/2015. I believe this was recently extended from a previous expiration date of January 2015.

No Shadow's allowed in the People's Republic of Ca!

Unfortunately you are incorrect David (i wish you were correct). The CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical is not on the California roster. This in not an uncommon misinterpretation of this listing. Good looking out though.

 CZ 75 Tactical 01100 / Steel   Pistol   4.72"   9mm   5/9/2015

The above listing is actually this pistol. It is the CZ75B Tactical 9mm. It comes with a forest green frame, rubber grips and a lanyard main spring plug. From what i have gathered, this is one of the three pistols likely to not be renewed.
