I picked up my first CZ. Bought a CZ75 Shadow Custom in excellent condition. Took it to the range and was very impressed with the accuracy compared to my Glock 17. The ergos are just amazing. I have enjoyed Glocks, but my plan is to use the Shadow in IDPA ESP next year.
My biggest concern is how complex the CZ is compared to the Glock. Glocks are simple and so easy to detail strip and keep clean.
The CZ seems to have many small parts, including screws and springs.
I have the following questions.
1. How many rounds roughly can I go before I need to do a complete detail strip and cleaning? I plan on doing normal field strip and cleaning after each outing, but wanted to get an idea how long I can go before having to do a detailed cleaning.
2. What is the best resource for explaining what areas should be cleaned and oiled during normal cleaning? I have seen a few Youtube videos.
3. It seems like the CZ's are generally reliable, but I would like to know which areas I should pay extra attention to, to make sure the gun operates properly. For example, are there certain screws that need to be checked?
4. My understanding is the CZ's without the firing pin block are OK to dryfire without an issue. Is that correct?
5. Are there any books or DVDs that goes into detail about the CZ75? (ie detail strip and maintenance) My quick check did not find much.
Thanks for any help. I am looking forward to using the CZ.
