In search of Mec Gar mag locking plates
« on: December 01, 2014, 01:12:23 PM »
Sorry if this is in the wrong sub-forum... I recently got some Mec Gar 17 rnd mags off a friend of mine that came equipped with the +2 extended magazine base pads:   http://www.midwayusa.com/product/319414/mec-gar-extended-magazine-base-pad-2-optimum-series-magazine?cm_vc=ProductFinding

The +2 work just fine and provide sufficient spring compression room to increase the mag's capacity up to 19 rnds.  However the problem is they make the overall length of the mag when inserted in the gun too big to fit the USPSA box for Production division and probably all the IDPA divisions that a CZ75 is legal for.  Plus I'm shooting Production division, so the +2 capacity is moot.

At first I was thinking no problem, remove +2 base pads and replace with some different base pads I have laying around.  Except for the fact that the +2 base pads uses a proprietary locking plate and my friend does not still have the OEM Mec Gar locking plates that has the little stud that locks the base pad in place.

Googling for Mec Gar locking plates or magazine floor plates did not offer much enlightenment.  Hoping somebody here has a line of where I can get the locking plate I need.  Note:  I am not looking for basepads (those I have).

Thanks

I think this is what you are looking for.  It should fit the base pads for either the 16 or 18 round magazines.  And right now they have a sale too.

Be aware that the 17 round MecGar's are approximately .050" longer than the 16 round magazines. Using base plates from those magazines will result in a gap between the mag base and the bottom of the frame. Just so you know.

Thx.  As long as they fit in the box I don't care about gaps.
