Hi guys , I am new CZ owner here. I've always originally wanted a CZ because they seemed like great value a few years ago but never actually pulled the trigger on purchasing one until recently. I was kind of unsure previously about getting one because the brand wasn?t as commonly known as Colt,Springfield,Glock,etc.... So my first purchase was a SW M&P40. I have had it for almost year and shot it twice and was pretty unhappy with my shooting. It felt good in the hand but my shots were all over the place. A month ago I picked up a SP-01 Tactical as my first CZ and right away my groups were tighter and more consistent. I feels awesome in the hand. I did notice the weight of it to be somewhat fatiguing in the hand despite how great it feels. A range officer proceeded to give me some sound advice and my shooting improved instantly with a few grip changes. However the weight was still getting to me. I notice I am less shaky and stay on target better with lighter polymer guns. So being that I am a California resident I felt pressed for time. I instantly started looking for a SP-01 Shadow but realized they are now going for a premium & would be really hard to find. So I picked up a P-09 because it seemed like an amazing value. The first thing I did was change to the larger back strap that makes the grip feel more similar to that of CZ75s. The very next day I took it to the range and I was hitting center dot & putting rounds through the same hole multiple times. With the P-09 I was instantly shooting better than I have with any handgun & more consistent. I am a believer & like both of my CZs. The Steel frame SP-01 may feel like a real gun where as the P-09 feels like a cheap plastic toy, however it seems like the P-09 might be slightlyy more balanced in my hands & so far shoots better. I obviously will run more rounds through before drawing any final conclusions but I will say you can go wrong with either. For those wondering about the trigger, the P-09s trigger feels smoother and slightly lighter to me. However it seems like it is also a hair longer of a pull. With the SP-01 I find it is easier to tell when it is going to break. These are just my initial impressions & I will need to spend more time with each, but they are both 9mm variants. One more thing before someone points it out yes I know that is the M&P mag next to the SP-01 :-). I moved it for the photo op!
