Does anyone feel their CZ-70 is too 'snappy'?
« on: December 08, 2014, 03:09:54 PM »
Every time I shoot my CZ-70, which I enjoy shooting, leave me with the feeling like it's biting me on the webbing between my thumb and index finger.  I try to change up my grip, crush the grips tighter, lock on harder with the lower fingers instead of pushing the webbing harder into the  pistol, but nothing has helped.  I've recently replaced the recoil spring, hoping it was a light spring, but nope - same feeling.

I want this pistol to 'work for me'.  I think it's just a cool little gun.

Help!

Thanks
Rob

I have two Walther .380s. They are snappy guns also. The size of the gun and the caliber.

Whose ammo are you using? The gun does require a firm grip, but it's not bad in my opinion.

Had to go find the box!

it's Fiocchi 7.65 Browning in the blue box...

I've been using GECO 73gr and it feels okay to me. I may have to buy some Fiocchi later to compare. It is a small pistol and a strong grip is very important.

The problem isn't the ammo, the recoil spring, or how tight you're gripping the firearm.  The problem is, most likely, that the shape of your hand at the web (the structure of your bones) is getting a bit more of the recoil force than its happy with.

The solution is to use a rubber slip on "grip enhancer" or a pair of shooter's gloves.  Slip on grip enhancers most often recommended are the Hogue Hand-all and Packmayr but many people substitute a cutting from a used bicycle tire inner-tube.  I've been told that weight-lifter's gloves may be substituted from shooter's gloves and might be less expensive.

A more expensive, but possibly more aesthetically pleasing solution might be to replace the grips with custom or semi-custom grips for the CZ50, such as those made by Marschal Grips.

Peace favor your sword,
