I got the exact airsoft on Cyber Monday just to play around with. Very good quality, all metal. Had to take right safety off because it was digging into my hand. I'm planning to replace front sight with fiber optic.

Is it similar in weight to an sp01?  Would be great when I can't have a firearm for drills.

I think it's a bit lighter than my SP01 but pretty close. I'll put them on a scale when I get home.

If you listen to, say, Ben Stoeger's podcast, he'll recommend against airsoft if you can dryfire your "real" gun.

Even Maria Guschina, who can't even dryfire her real gun because of stupid laws in Russia, dryfires with an airsoft gun, but doesn't discharge any projectiles.

I shoot a S&W model 41 in a 22 league. For practice I've put on similar grips and red dot on a Beeman P1. It has helped me in many ways. I also strap on 5lb weights on my wrists for developing simultaneous strength and fine motor skills. It works for me.

I agree to always use the real thing, but some of my travels prevent me from having it with me.  I am not sure that this would be ok in some of those locations.

I just got it because it's cheaper than the real one  :P

CZ SP01 Accu Shadow w/ empty mag = 2 lb 10 oz
Tanfo Limited Custom airsoft w/ empty mag = 2 lb 10 oz

I make no illusions of it making me Gand master , but when it's cold , its cold and it sux shooting outside. This wy I get some trigger time and as long as I keep my targets proportional to the distance , I can't see how it will hurt me. Not to mention it's fun. Lol

Had an extra .125' Dawson FO front sight for my P01 so I put it on my Tanfo airsoft. The height is pretty much the same as airsoft front sight. Had to do some filing to get it in.

I've tried Airsoft when I shot a Glock and could not find a pistol that reproduced the weight of the real deal.  The airsoft slides are too light.

I get a hell of a lot more out of structured, disciplined dry fire.  I follow Ben Stoeger's drills, but there are others worth reading/doing too (Steve Anderson for instance).

I agree with a structured program, both referenced are great.  My issue is there are places I must go that I can't have a firearm or where it may be difficult to take one.  I suspect those same places will not allow airsoft either.  I need a dedicated dry fire "toy" that cannot be classified or considered a firearm, that is similar in size, weight, and function.
