Should have new 75D PCR Mon or Tue
« on: December 14, 2014, 06:39:37 AM »
I've been looking for a PCR for awhile now and finally broke down and bought one online which I very rarely do. After getting the run around by Woodbury Outfitters for a week they finally shipped it Friday and it was scheduled for delivery to my FFL on Tue but it looks like it's in town so it may show up on Mon unless FedEx decides to sit on it until Tue like they have a couple times in the past.
Either way should finally be getting it early this week.

Congratulations... I guess.

Why did you buy one?

I'd also call CZ about this. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, I HATE loaded chamber indicators, they serve no purpose except maybe to keep the lawyers happy. If a gun is in my hand it is loaded I don't need an indicator to tell me.

I don't believe this is an inherent problem with the gun and this is most likely an isolated incident. That being said the gun meets my current needs and if it does become a problem I will find it during testing before I start to carry it and it won't be the first time I've remove one of  the silly things

Received my PCR today so now have two, the 75BD and 75D PCR. After taking a closer look, I give CZ a lot for credit for making the LCI so easy to get rid of. The first indication of a problem, it's gone.

I wish it was as easy to get rid if the LCI on the CZ97. It seams that if you remove the 97 LCI you end up with port hole like a whale in the top of your pistol (this is assumption on my part, i have not tried removing it).

Gratz on your new PCR, a great looking CZ.

On the pcr you just unscrew the sleeve, remove the indicator and spring, then screw the sleeve back in, that will leave a small hole similar to the hole that is used as an indicator of sorts on the M&P series. I haven't tried that yet but the small hole, useable or not isn't a bit deal. I'm not familiar with the 97 so I can't speak for that model.
Just took a look at the 97 parts schematic and it looks like you should be able to remove the nut, spring, and indicator and then reinstall the nut alone and just be left with a very small hole. I'm just guessing here as I've never actually seen the gun.

Here are a few pics of the CZ97 LCI for comparison to the PCR's, LCI. If you remove it you are left with a hole rite above the breach face. When i first took my 97 out the LCI and block fell off (i must have got a loose one). I recovered the parts and added some lock-tight to the set screw. It has stayed put since then.

That piece on top that the LCI protrudes through is the Loaded Chamber Indicator Nut, is it not possible to remove the spring and indicator and just reinstall the nut? This would just leave a small hole in about the same place that S&W does on the M&P series. That allows you to look down into the chamber to see if it's loaded if you are so inclined to do so.
Again I'm just spit balling here as I haven't seen the CZ 97 but on the surface it seems reasonable?

I am not clear on what effect of the hole would have. But it would leave a notch in the breach face for crud to get into. I have heard remarks from a few gunsmiths that persuaded me not to mess with it so far. It has not caused me any problems, it just serves no purpose for me. In my mind guns are always loaded until i manually inspect the chamber.

I was not aware of the likeness to the S&W M&P series and that people were removing the LCI's from them.

I'm sorry, you misunderstood, the LCP isn't being removed in the M&P, S&W builds them with the hole there. There is no indicator, just a hole.

Here is a pic of the top of the M&P 9 FS that show the hole used as an LCI:

I purchased my PCR about 3 1/2 weeks ago.  Just began DROS (I'm in California) a couple days ago but due to the holidays and then business travel, I won't be able to pick it up until Jan 7.

This is foreplay is the worse way.

There are a few states I avoid like the plague, guess which is one of them?
